Some satellites have transmit and receive at 90 degrees from each other.  When receiving a sat, try transmitting after rotating the antenna 90 degrees.  I’m a newbie to satellites also, but it seemed to work.

Thanks all for your suggestions. This morning Clint’s page wouldn’t load. Just now at 5:37 PDT it loaded just fine. I can only guess electron collision. At least I didn’t let the smoke out.

Subject: [Work-Sat] website page load ?

Hi Clint. I enjoy all the topics via my client email. Thanks for all your work helping folks learn how to work Sats.

Topic is regarding my inability to access your webpage either via email link or web search to k6lcs dot com. it won't load. Using Mac Safari 13. OS 10.13. Ideas ? Can't access the work-sat dot com either. Other webpages load OK including this one. Anyone else having difficulty ?

I have to be doing something wrong

WA6ES@...

So far I have heard 6 passes pretty clear and made one contact. Using an arrow antenna and using the frequencies on the web site. I made the contact on SO-50. I wait until I hear calling. I transmit my call and location and wait, nothing and try it again until the Sat passes. I will keep trying but am I missing something

Thanks

I like to keep things simple - use your smartphone as the recorder. No wiring to mess with!

Must admit the Clint mod he's holding while sitting in chair looks appealing.  Just have to figure out how to come up with all those extra hands. Maybe a Harbor Freight camp.chair. it has table and a pocket for ur adult beverage

Built one almost exactly like urs a few years ago and never really used it. Getting organizeed for another go at fm sats. Been watching  lots of YouTube videos and most ops seemed to be holding the Arrow.. Cruised pasr 70 recently and tripod and chair seems.inviting but only if you  can be successful doing it :0))

Just use one hand to hold the antenna.

Another hand to hold the radio.
Use your other hand for the microphone.

Write down callsigns with a pencil in the other hand.
Take a sip of your favorite beverage with the other hand ...

I use the mod Clint just posted and it works great! The tripod is too much work to drag around.

The ID51 has a recording feature built in. Just insert a micro SD
card in the slot, enable the feature in the settings and you are done.
It records both sides of the conversation.
