Re: AO-92 to Camera Mode

I have been using the RTL-SDR Blog variant with good success. There seem to be some other interesting options now including some that claim to be modified for HF usage or have BiasT. I think I've even found some cheap, clones of the RTL-SDR Blog variant now on Ebay where the fonts look a little off. I might have to review the market options, though, I think the next SDR I buy will probably be focus on 1.7 GHz for use with collecting NOAA high-resolution satellite imagery. I'm not sure if my HackRF is up to the task.

Re: AO-92 camera mode

The data is sent as a series of packets using FSK modulation over the FM downlink. There is normally always something being sent as long as the repeater is being kept active, but it is usually sent as slow-speed 200 bps Data-Under-Voice (DUV) in the sub-200 Hz audio range and will be filtered out by most FM receivers as it is in the same range as PL tones. You generally won't hear it in this case. The recent camera experiment is using the High-Speed mode sending at 9600 bps and can clearly be heard over the voice channel even with a regular FM receiver (though some of the important content may still be filtered out). If you are using an SDR receiver to capture the signal, make sure any audio filtering and squelch is turned off during the pass. The audio from either mode can be fed into Foxtelem to decode the satellite telemetry and, if you enable it, can be uploaded to AMSAT servers and attributed to your callsign as helping the greater good.

It is “near live” - and you’ll probably just receive portions of a photo ...

Re: Quetzal-1 - Argentina

I wish that would have occurred to me before I missed the last good pass for today. However, someone did post that it's in the AMSAT Argentine TLEs:

Where are the current TLEs for this satellite being published? I haven't found them yet.

Thank you so much Cliff.
I  just need a little time to get back my strength and hope to be back on

Cliff,
Its a bad virus going around as everyone knows. Taking massive amounts of meds for the last couple of days. It helped to break this painful fever.
Now the recovery time starts to heal the bones and muscle tissue. Doc said it will just take time. Thanks for letting me answer you on the Work-Sat board.
I'm trying to get on the SATS shortly, hopefully sometime in the month of May and enjoy those memorable contacts with al of you.
Thanks,
Jerry...W8RQM

Check out their Web site for the YouTube link. Quite a production, with
many politicians and folks offering praise and congratulations!

The commissioning was simple:

Oh my ... Please take care of yourself. Why the "six months" to recover?

Quetzal-1 - Argentina

Quetzal-1 was just deployed from the Kibo module of the International Space Station.

About 30 minutes after ejection, it should deploy its antennas and begin beacon transmission.

For downlink, Quetzal-1 uses a GOMSpace AX100 transceiver, which will transmit GMSK-modulated data at 4800 bps at 437.200 MHz (as coordinated by IARU).

The spacecraft’s beacon will be sent with a 10 second period.

This GitHub repository details both the HDLC + AX.25 structure and the beacon data format. You can send all received data to the following email: satelite@....

TLEs will be published as they become available upon deployment from ISS.
