Lisa Blake (McKay)

Ross Hunter <rossgroups@...>

Some of you may have know Lisa Kay Blake (air name Kay). She came to WJMA in 1985 while a student at UVa. After leaving WJMA she had a successful career at WRVQ in Richmond and WQDR in Raleigh.

If my memory is correct, I heard her on WUVA and thought she was outstanding and would fit well with Digby Solomon’s vision for WJMA. I think WJMA was her first commercial radio job.

Here’s a link to a trade out commercial with WVIR that includes a brief bit of audio from 1985. http://www.wjma.radiohistory.net/WJMA%20photos/WJMA%20tv/WVJZ%201986-1.mov

I did not know of Lisa, but it is refreshing to read of someone so passionate about their work and a personality that exudes that passion without walking over everyone. Thanks for the links.

Very sad news. I was gone before she arrived so I never knew Lisa Kay but I remember her time on air at WJMA. It was obvious that she had large market talent.
