Maybe we should buy it and corner the market. That's what Buck Early would have done!

In regard to the "Zoom" my wife uses it all the time, but my old computer doesn't have the necessary technology. However, she said I could borrow hers for a price. So I'm good whenever.

Bill

PS. By the way, those two sons of John Cregg stay in touch with us, so any new info on John would be appreciated!

Great. Chet Burgess has offered to set up the Zoom meeting.

Suggestions for a day and time? morning, afternoon, evening. I don’t recall where everyone is, but I think most are in the Eastern or Central time zones.

I will join in if at all possible. I could do most any evenings (except Thursdays), and daytime on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons. I've been participating and organizing Zoom and Jitsi meetings for a while and the online platforms are really earning their keep. It would be great to see old (and new) friends!

Ross,

I apologize for a very late followup to your inquiry about Harold Schrock. I just ran across your letter as I was cleaning files and don't think my sister or I ever responded to your inquiry.

To refresh your memory, you wrote to Mary Houston on Aug 31, 2010 about Harold Schrock who sent a QSL card to WJMA  in 1949.

I went to your web site and saw that this is the earliest piece of printed items in your collection. I think Harold would be impressed to know that he was the first.

Harold Schrock was our father. In 1949 he would have been 30 years old. Ironically I believe he was living in Falls Church, VA at that time where he worked for the Federal Government after serving in the navy during WWII. He moved back to Illinois shortly after this contact in early 1950.  He grew up in Pontiac and operated his ham radio from his parents home until he settled in Paxton, IL. He was an avid ham operator his entire life getting his license in 1938. His call letters were W9QWM.

After 1950 he farmed in the Paxton area for the rest of his life. Harold passed away in 1989.

Hope this information is helpful. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me.

It is possible to throttle back the video resolution on a Zoom connection to ease the strain on a slow internet hook-up.

I would be happy to schedule a quick one-on-one Zoom test with anyone to go over the buttons on the app and test your connection.

To Phil's point, the County meetings have been on Zoom for the past couple of months and I access it using Excede satellite.  It has occasional freezes and such but it functions well enough.

I think the technology/software is still so new that even hooked to broadband people seem to have occasional glitches.
