Ross,

The movie version is here :

and this Wiki entry mentions the changed lyrics.

Proving once again that nothing is ever simple.

My guess on why the lyric change is money, either because of some sort of contractual issue or just because Hollywood.

Mark,

I should have known better on the Bangles. A slip of the finger probably.

Thanks for clearing up the “Another Bobby Gentry” song question.

I didn’t know that Convoy had two versions. The only lyrics I found were the “sixth of June” version. Where did you find the other? Is there a story behind the lyric change?

After seeing you credited the late arriving Harrison version of "Convoy" I did some research only to find out that we are both correct.  C W McCall re-recorded the song for the movie "Convoy" and changed some of the lyrics including the those in question. So both  "“Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June In a Kenworth pullin’ logs”" and "Arizona, Noon, on the 7th of June when they high balled over the pass" are accurate.

Ralph,

Right now there are 23 songs on the list with another 5 like "In the Year 2525".

I did start a companion list for songs mentioning days.  That list has 41 songs on it with another 5 like "Yesterday's Gone".

Things has slowed. I'll try and clean up the lists and post them tomorrow or over the weekend.

Great suggestions, keep 'em coming. I'm making a list and will post it when this thread runs out.

I've started a sub list of songs mentioning days of the week. Feed free to mention those, too.

Ross

Just naming a year doesn't count; nor just a month; nor even naming a day of the week. I know we can all think of tons of songs that do that ("Monday, Monday," "Summer of '65" etc.). I, like Ross, am curious to see how many songs there are that have a specific calendar date in them (because I have a nagging feeling I've forgotten one or two in my list). This is hard-core trivia, indeed, but if any group can do it, I'm sure we can.

Ralph

I think that was Citizen's Bank of Maryland.  Try this link:  Citizens Bank of Maryland jingle

Years ago, when Harden and Weaver held forth and gripped the high ratings on WMAL in Washington,, they ran an ad for a bank that included the phrase "Daytime, nighttime and Saturday, too." For some unknown and annoying reason, that phrase has been an earworm for me this week. I don't remember the name of the bank, but that lyric stuck.

Les, here for the other six days
