How to read a MEMOREX 2S/2D Microdisk double sided 135 TPI floppy?
|
Hi,
I have software for an HP 85685A that came on MEMOREX 2S/2D Microdisk double sided 135 TPI floppies. What do I need to read these? I have a sony MSFD-20U USB floppy drive. But, when I try to use that I get errors such as the following: [3679302.661485] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Unit Not Ready [3679302.661489] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Sense Key : Medium Error [current] [3679302.661490] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Add. if by microfloppy, you mean 3.5" floppy, then my first guess is that they are LIF formatted disks. You most likely cannot rd them on a USB floppy drive.

If you have a floppy with a "native" (i.e. Motherboard connected) floppy, then get a copy of HP LIF utilities. You can convert them to DOS readable floppies, but the HP device will probably not be able to read the DOS version. Cheers! bRUCE Quoting Matt Huszagh <huszaghmatt@...>: Hi, |

Thanks Bruce. Yes it’s a 3.5” floppy. Unfortunately I don’t have a motherboard with a floppy controller, but I just ordered an HP 9122, which I could use anyway with my 382 controller. I hope/think that will cover it - we’ll see. Matt On Tue, Jan 17, 2023 at 10:12 PM Bruce <bruce@...> wrote: if by microfloppy, you mean 3.5" floppy, then my first guess is that |

I think that will probably be OK. Which version of the 9122 did you order - I believe the C version supports both HD and stndard floppies. Other versions only support low density. Other members can give you better information. Cheers! Bruce Quoting Matt Huszagh <huszaghmatt@...>: Thanks Bruce. Yes it’s a 3.5” floppy. Unfortunately I don’t have a |
