Don't let the "Weller" part scare you off; Erem is a Swiss manufacturer that makes the very finest of small cutting tools. Weller bought them some years ago, for some odd reason. And speaking of which

Older PCB substrate material is more sensitive to heat. The hot air tools will heat the general area; using an iron will apply heat only to the metal that you want to heat, as long as you're careful.

I wouldn't use a Dremel; that approach will leave metal dust everywhere. Here's what we do at LSSM. Use good-quality, sharp cutters and cut the leads as close to the IC body as possible, to minimize s

I don't recall whether or not BASIC/UX was key-protected. Could I ask you to take a look at that stack to see if it's in there? -Dave

Hey, does anyone have a copy of BASIC/UX for series 700 machines, the PA-RISC systems? I think it's E2045C. -Dave -- Dave McGuire, AK4HZ New Kensington, PA

IMSAI 8080
:-) Amusingly, the IMSAI 8080 systems were superior by almost every measure than the machine for which it was intended to be a cheaper alternative, the Altair 8800. Great stuff. -Dave

If you think they're unreliable, you haven't used many Imsai machines. Those things are built like tanks, and depending on whose boards they're populated with, they're damn hard to kill. -Dave

HP 7090A Measurement System/Plotter - Adjusting the movement of the pen head?
Sounds good. The cups on my plotters have turned into goo and fallen apart...if yours haven't, they likely will. :-/ Why not drive it from the analog side? The last thing I did with mine is demonstrat

It's a bit hard to see from the small photo, but if I'm seeing it correctly, those were the caps that keep the pens from drying out. I have a 7090A and a 7475A that have the same rubber caps; I've bee

Had you sent the list of capacitors? We're not yet set up for public sale on this end (shopping cart system, etc), but I can certainly sell you a set if I have them. -Dave

I know there are some CSUB incompatibilities in later releases of BASIC; could that be rearing its ugly head? I know this prevents the 3048A software from running under 6.4, not sure about BASIX/UX. -
