HP 9845A Repair Follow-up
The 9845 tape drive is the same as the 9825 tape drive. It is fairly simple to remove the motor unit, you have remove the 3 screws at the underside which hold the motor. Be careful with the opto diode

I think you should check the stepper driver and motor from the paper feed. Getting an uninterrupted line for one character, could be caused be a defective stepper motor or driver. -Rik
