hi folkes
been watching the chat for a while. At the computer sheds in the uk we have a large collection of hp kit. not all on the web site. 
many yesrs ago we took the hp archives and test kit from Bristol labs. Just found 37 (maybe more) mag tapes which say hp1000 archives on each, i guess these might be ilportant?!

we will attempt to read one, chevking for any delamination of the oxide of course.

any one remember these?

Ok I looked at your site and now it makes more sense.  We have un-scanned schematics for a version of the B supply but found issues when we tried to track stuff in the C, which you have and is much better.  As you mentioned it’s supposed to be the same but the front small card has some different stuff on it.

Missing from that are photos of the crate of IO cables, for all the IO cards, etc.

You’ve got, assuming all of the rooms are installed, a nicely loaded system.

It should be consistently complete. It was rescued from a junkyard, but I know it had not been ratted for parts.
It's past life was part of a service test system for FA18 combat rader sets. I presume the hard drives were destroyed
for security reasons.

Ideally you can find a disc that emulates CS80 that’s probably the easiest.  Or you might look for a 7945 or 7958. These are roughly 14â€&#65533;x8â€&#65533;x19â€&#65533; or so(it’s been a while.  Both are CS-80 drives, in fact the 7945 was the std. drive for the 3000 mdl 37.

Please remember I have ZERO experience with minicomputers of any kind. You're using terms that to me are just potential
google searches.

? Context ? Did you leave out a sentence there? You're referring to the DIP switches on the processor PCB?
My machine is completely disassembled. The proc pca is in an anti-static padded wrap. But what about the DIP switches?

Nice thing is with the 7970 rom, and a 7970E + I/F you can load software from tape. We have several copies of the MEF diagnostics on both 800BPI and 1600BPI tapes.

What are 'MEF diagnostics'? The only documentation I have is the contents of one ring binder I bought some time after getting the machine. Contents are listed in my article.
I do have one complete 800BPI tape drive (HP 7970B, and a service manual for it) plus cables for it to the HP 1000.
Also recently acquired a couple of Kennedy 800/1600 tape drives (9000 & 9100; functionality unknown), but so far have no docs or interfaces for those.

We have, although not for a while, done repairs on the MEF and have a fair assortment of I/F cards and cables. Although as you say the shipping may be too pricy.

I'd be very happy to buy and pay postage on whatever hard copies of manuals for this system that you can spare.
I'm a PDF-curmudgeon. Really hate using PDF anything while working on hardware. But can suffer it if there is no alternative.

The 7914 is heavy around 175 pounds packed for shipment.  Shipping is no problem if the spindle lock and the head lock are engaged.  I suspect the cost of shipping is going to be just this side of obscene.  $3K by express and $1K by ship w/41 day transit time

This board will work fine in any series 200 machine (9826, 9836, 9920, 9000/237, 9816 or 9000/217) as well as in a 310 or 320.

From 330 on, memory extensions are plugged into the main board, slow DIO-I memory cards won’t work. For those computers, hard disk based BASIC 6.2 would be the better choice.

Especially recommended is to plug the board into a 9816, since this compact computer only features two DIO slots.

My 310 had 1MB on-board plus 2 x 1 MB boards. By just reallocating the 1 MB board addresses, I have now a total of 7 MB! The on-board 1 MB space is, apparently, automatically re-allocated.
So we (the 310 and I) are very happy!

I just wanted to chime in that I received my board from Dominique a while back.  I configured according to his instructions, popped it in my 9816, and it fired right up with BASIC 5.1.  It's a very nice piece of work.

Dominique has (as of the last email a couple of weeks ago) indicated that he still has a couple of boards left, with BASIC 5.1 and 1MB of RAM.  That would still make a pretty nifty system.  If anyone is interested, email him directly at his email address: dvp800@...

8k basic which can run in 8k core memory.
You'll also need to install the appropriate SIO drivers for the teletype and io. The 2114/16 pocket guide should help you further.

Back in ''70, sometimes we were running "basic" BASIC ( NOT Time sharing ) on 2116B, 2100A, just for FUN.

Is there some copy still around ??
