Re: BASIC for HP 1000, 21xx series #VintageHPComputers

8k basic which can run in 8k core memory.
You'll also need to install the appropriate SIO drivers for the teletype and io. The 2114/16 pocket guide should help you further.

The backplanes both front and back are the same as far PIN numbers and spacing goes. There are significant wiring/connection differences in the memory plane and the I/O plane.
So, only one kind of extender card required. Good.

Without knowing what the rom part numbers are I’ll make a guess. The 79XX and the 7905/7920 should talk to the same drives. Although it may be that your computer had a loader that would talk to either CS80 discs or 7906H. I really think you just have two versions of the MAC family loader. The 264X is self explanatory.
See photo here: http://everist.org/NobLog/pics/20131112/IMG_6027_front_panel_tag.jpg

The 7914 is heavy around 175 pounds packed for shipment. Shipping is no problem if the spindle lock and the head lock are engaged. I suspect the cost of shipping is going to be just this side of obscene. $3K by express and $1K by ship w/41 day transit time
Ouch. THAT heavy. And big. Found a photo: https://www.computerhistory.org/collections/catalog/102704255

I buy gear from the USA now and then, and use Shipito reshipper (in LA, CA) for somewhat better pricing.
But that weight is beyond my means.
Oh well, looks like emulation is the way to go.

Hmm... the front panel of my machine has a 'Loader ROM configuration' label listing 3 devices. None of which I have.
00 264x Terminal

10 79xx Disk
11 7905/20 Disk

So I'd be interested in your 7914 Disk. But I'm in Australia. I assume you are in the USA. Not sure how shipping
could work (cost and risk of breaking it.)  Atm I'm stretching with costs of some car repairs and registration,
so can't contemplate extra costs just now. But maybe if it's still available in a month or two?

It's in the header of _every_ message. Not just mine, but everyone's has their email address, always.
Have people so gotten into the practice of 'hide headers', that they have forgotten
email headers exist?

I keep 'display headers' turned on in my email client, as the headers make scam emails obvious.

Thanks! Handcrafted html, none of that auto-generated bloat! :)
And the frequent non-finishing of projects, that's for consistency of style. Really.
No project ever actually dies. They just get hung for longish intervals. Sometimes years.

For anyone else who wishes to admire my mess: http://everist.org/

But my email address... ? Huh? It's in the posting header. I don't understand how you don't see it...

Anyway, ignoring that mystery, here:
To: VintHPcom@groups.io,VintHPcom@groups.io
From: "Guy Dunphy" <guykd@optusnet.com.au>

Are the HP 1000 series extender cards different for the rear IO frame, vs the front
memory and processor-related stuff frame?
My machine is somewhat buried atm, so I can't easily check that.

All the best,
Guy

I'm very keen to find extender cards too.
My machine is this: http://everist.org/NobLog/20131112_HP_1000_minicomputer_teardown.htm

It's a HP 1000 E-series. 2113E ?

That project has been frozen for years, but _this_ year will restart. Just have to get some other things done first.
