You know that you can just delete the password from the file and magically there is no password?

I’ve a 7948B with hp-ux 7.1 installed the disk boots but I can’t get in because I don’t know the root password.

I’ve mounted the disk as second disk 3s0 on a working hp-ux system and now I’m able to read the /etc/passwd file but I like to decrypt the passwords in the file.

Does anyone knows how the passwords are encrypted and how to decrypt them?
