Hi guys
Can anyone help with info on :-
matra marconi space sspa type fta/c20e/2624/2624/2
It works ok on 6cms but trying to find out what voltage I need to apply to gain adjust connector .

If it is the sort I use, then just a 10K resistor to ground is all that is required for full gain. 73 de Sam, G4DDK Sent tomorrow from my time machine

Hi Sam
Thanks for the info , I was hoping I could use it to bias Amp off during receive , rather than apply main 12 volts each time , hence the question .

I was never successful at doing that, so resorted to either relay or Mosfet series supply switch.

What are your thoughts for a long term solution , relay or mosfet switch ,on a permanent masthead installation ?
It's on a tilt over tennamast , but once it goes up it stays up , more concerned with reliability in this situation.

Meant to ask you Sam what difference did the resistor make ?
At the moment i'm getting something like 14 watts out .

Very little difference. In the original set up there was a pot to ground. It maybe that ground will reduce the gain. I just wanted max gain. Unlikely it will turn off, I.E. kill any noise from the amplifier. Sam Sent tomorrow from my time machine

I now use a mosfet switch. Relay would be OK since the operation is unlikely to be break in….. Sam Sent tomorrow from my time machine

Out of curiosity, What is the marked, or original design frequency of that module?

Mine is upper 6, but works fine down at 5.7GHz. Much lower and the power/gain drops rapidly. I combine two for 25W out on EME. Sam Sent tomorrow from my time machine

AH, so designed for C-band Sat uplink. Matra Marconi only peripherally dabbled in ground stations I thought, and the company under that name only lasted a few years (I worked for them for the first three) before becoming Astrium. SO was a bit surprised to hear of a C-band uplink PA with their name. Could have been from the Matra heritage, I guess.
