Good point Ben .
It will be EME , so check VK3UM predictions - a 60cm dustbin lid and a current style LNB should be good enuf to hear us at IO90AS .

I have to agree with that! You are usually rather a big signal..

Sadly my EME system is undergoing and upgrade at the moment  I won't be able to test with you

Good luck

That's a shame John , but this time of year we have to take whatever EME opportunities present themselves .
Forecast is for rain .....
Hope to test our new DU3T LNA and matching LNB combination .
Will send you details of any exchanges /listener reports we get .

Sorry, got all the bits tested yesterday, rx'ing Oscar 100 fine into IC-705 but rain stops play today.

I have a downconverter with LNB feed and rf out for SDR and LO/Mix to give a 2Mtr o/p. The sat comes out at 144.5 but when I calculated for 10368.2 it comes out on 23.2Mhz, Luckily there's only low pass filtering on the LO/Mix o/p so still receives, hi.

Must also get a better system sorted for mounting dish on the tripod, rotation ok but elevation adjustment needs looking at.

hey ho, hopefully ok on your next test day. Keep us all informed.

I’m at ‘RFR site now watching them. Anyone listening on 10368.196 Vertical polarisation. Any reports etc etc via this website.

Good afternoon

Many thanks to you all for our moon bounce contact on 10 Ghz this morning !!!!!

Best decode on WSJY-X Q65 60 D -3 did manage one at -2 and thanks for my -19 .

Your new pre amp seems to be working well, the extra few dB on recieve has made the path go were last time you just managed a one decode on 120 E

Considereing it was very wet at both ends I was pleased to work you properly hopefully for the first of many.

Hi Ben.All understood.
WX today was very heavy rain - probably over an inch with local road flooding .
However some good RS apart the system worked , with 2.3dB surface and 16dB Sun noise recorded .
Good to finally have a full QSO with G0OLX !

Next EME operation on 10GHz from G4RFR will be on Saturday 3/12/2022 .I think we get Moon during late pm so it will be a dark session , but some good Moon visibility well above the trees .
We had at least one report from a station running a 65cm offset today .

Hi Denis ,
THANK YOU for the first full QSO with you .

Your signal was just visible on the WSJT Waterfall during the -19 dB period .
Some pics attached .Pic 3 is our Echo at around 18dB/noise floor in 6Hz RBW .

Thanks also to Steve G4HSK for the signal report on the small dish and Keith GW3THK .

We kept the power at slightly under 200W , but apart from rigging the system for 3/4 Hr in solid downpour conditions , it all worked ( specially after Carl G6NLC noticed that the 746 driver was on Topband - not much RF output ....) .

As you will see from Per's note on Moon net, the drive gearbox has failed on DL0SHF , so having your signal to work with allowed us to confirm the level was upto expected .
The new DU3T LNA front end is working well in conjunction with a  new Dual LNB , which we decapitated and also inserted a PI resistive pad into a 50 Ohm track ,after the second active device on the LNB .We also fitted a modified G3WDG cavity in the 401 line linking the LNA to a circular transition in 22mm pipe fitted to the decapitated LNB .
All RX parameters have improved over our previous best case LNB front end .
We had a QSO with IK0HWJ and found reports much more in balance than previous QSOs .

All in all a good result for a soggy Monday morning in November .

Dom,
We generally operate Vertical pol on EME.
We are planning to be on saturday 3rd Dec afternoon/evening. By request, we can change pol - but it does mean taking a twist out of the feed, so we would want a bit of notice and to arrange a sked...

The Tx side seemed stronger as well but that may be down to me getting the tracking working at last, now have 0.2 degree instead of 1 degree, had problems with the ip down counter but was in fact the magnet only turning one way and going round intermittently the other.
Turned very cold this afternoon so sign of things to come!!!!
Will make sure I am around for your next outing
Well done on the RX improvements !!!!
