YP232034 Datasheet for 8w Wifi Amplifier

I've just obtained one of the 8W :) Wifi Amplifiers. Thinking it may be useful for the portable QO-100 station.

I've read these make around 4-5 watts, mine is only producing 2.5 watts saturated.

Looks to be a pair of YP232034 devices inside (Possibly 2.3g 34dBm ?), I can't find any data on these devices, there is no manufactures logo, but also on the chips are the markings G00597 and 1813. Does anyone know the spec for the chips.

attached specs says 34dbm at 1db compression for a single device

Perhaps the specification needs to be changed to 'music power' as seen in Hi-Fi circles...

So mine is about 3dB down on the datasheet, maybe it was built on a Friday afternoon.

The 8w on the box, looks like it refers to the consumption, not the output. Well they don't specify, so it could mean anything.

Hi Nick,

There is very little thermal information on the data sheet. For low duty cycle pulse modes it should work, but at maximum output the devices would draw 1A each and each dissipate about 3.5W of heat in a tiny QFN package, always assuming the power supply provided is capable of providing that much current. Can you measure the device temperatures?

 Quite possibly Andy, a 6dBi aerial is included.

I'll borrow a contactless thermometer, I only have a thermocouple bead thermometer.

It drew from what I remember somewhere between 1.0-1.5 amps at 12v, it does include a nice smpsu on board that lets you power it from 5v upwards.
 I'll check out again when I get the thermometer.
