HPIB(GPIB) to USB

Is there any other source than Prologix to get listening only over the HP bus, thus allowing screen print outs
rather than taking a pic with a mobile phone
cheers

Hi Geoff

For what it's worth a Protogix is what I have used for many years with my 8510C Network Analyzer.

Lets an old laptop pretend to be a pen plotter.

It is a fairly slow process, the 8510 thinks it's plotting all those lines.  But you can then save it
in one of several formats. Lots of thing you can do with the plots in Photoshop later.

Hi Kent,
The laptop being a plotter misses out on the fun of the pens being dropped in the carousel and jamming every thing up!
But i use to like the old HP plotter!

Hi ,

if it is only for screen hard copy , Prologix is OK. I have bougth one 2 years ago but I'm not happy with it because it cannot be used with the KO4BB software to transfert easilly cal kits parameters to a HP network analyser. I should have bougth by a HP or something compatible.

Agreed - can't beat a Prologix
Press all three print buttons on the 8569B simultaneously and get a complete screen dump to PC

Google AR488 for a cheap Prologix clone based on an Arduino.

I have one which works just fine with my HP3478a and 2x HP8642a. It works even with the 8642a on a single bus, which is nice given the lack of proper IEEE488 bus drivers.

It can also do target mode like the Prologix, admittedly I have not tried that as I have no use for it.

Price is hard to beat too..

Hi Wilko,
Thanks for that, i came across it and the one published in Elektor back in 2011 i think.
Its certainly worth a try for the cost of an Arduino and a 24 pin centronics socket
thanks

The Elektor one I never tried, but the AR488 appears to work just dandy with things like EZGPIB.
