Dear Martin, Thanks for the advice. Yes, I’ve changed pots in the past- the current one is a Bourns 10 turn and resistance values are normal and stable. I have the pot replacement instructions, thanks

Dear Graham, Thanks. I checked this and the resistance to the motor wires was indeed multi MOhms. Because of the exposed location, a lot of protection was applied to cable joints, rotator and junction

Dear Mike, DTELS method was self-amalgamating tape first, then Denso tape. Wrapping Insulating tape over Denso tape is unhelpful, as water seeps under the insulating tape and stays trapped underneath.
