Thank you Gary, I have ordered one of the units you recommended . The noise from the audio section on the 817 is bad but didn’t really want to do the internal mod. Will let you know what I think. It’s

Re hy-gain AR-500 rotator
Hello, I bought one of these rotators which was very reasonable on an offer recently, for portable use. It will be fine for 23 and 13 cm yagis. The only thing is that the readout is in tens of degrees

Hepburn vs Surface Refractivity (Ns)
Hello again Greg, I did read Pascal’s article on the refractive index in the lower troposphere. The value N for the refractive index is derived from three variables: atmospheric pressure, temperature

PS If you find out anything useful perhaps you could share it with the group as the charts are very useful though puzzling as to how exactly they relate to the weather charts. 73 Dave G4GLT.

Hello Greg, Not sure myself but F5LEN May be able to answer your question. In the ‘About’ section of his tropospheric propagation website there is an article on the refractive index. The only problem

Pre-amp max input?
Thank you all for your input and help. I took away from it the usefulness of handshaking contacts. I will certainly be using them . 73 Dave G4GLT.

Pre-amp max input?
What about 2 small 12 v relays fed from the tx/Rx tell back contacts fed in series to the 12v power on the PA and in series to the power to the Preamp. I guess electronics is quicker than relays. Rega

Pre-amp max input?
Discovered that my waveguide relay does have tell back contacts. Just need to work out how to connect these to the Kuhne sequencer. I think W1GHZ has a circuit but it looks very complicated. Might tak

Like many people I will be using a Kuhne sequencer. There is no more room in the box for another waveguide relay. The amp is the 8-10 watt one . I guess a good sequencer would make sure that no transm

I also have a WG16 waveguide relay and considered the same problem with the same preamp. The waveguide relay is a 4 port job. On transmit would it help to short the waveguide port going to receive or
