Just a reminder.

The latest version of the site database, SITES.DAT can be found at   http://www.g4jnt.com/SiteDatabase.htm
I've added corrections sent in so far, and updated as many UK beacons as possible with NGR or 8 character Loc to allow decent bearing calibration.
The .DAT version is needed by software, but if you have trouble getting Windoze to recognise the file type , use the .TXT version then save as .DAT

Download and add / delete entries  to suit your own needs.  SITES.DAT is compatible with my distance / bearing calculation software (and ancient height / path stuff)  http://www.g4jnt.com/hdbase.htm   and Mike G0MJW's Path Profile.  http://www.mike-willis.com/software.html

Re 76GHz record video

R Hopkins

Hi all

I just watched the video. Congratulations on the contact. I am impressed. I am confused as well as
to where Eglwsilan is supposed to be. As far as I can see IO81IO36 is nowhere near where the pin is
in the map (although the distance is correct). It's not even in Gwent. I'm knocking anything because
I think the whole event (including the video) was REALLY excellent. I live reasonably close to
Eglwsilan and I'm just being pedantic.

Cheers

Roger GW4NOS

P.S. I'm just a little disappointed that such an interesting test was happening on my doorstep and
I didn't know about it.

Hi there,

I should be about between 11.45 to 14.30ish local depending on activity from the usual IO76xa [which sadly missed all tropo last week - at least when I was there!]

76GHz UK Distance Record Video now edited

usuallyqrt@...

A video of the 76GHz 102 Km distance record announced here about ten days ago is now available for viewing.  Two site URLs below. First one is possibly the better quality.  Second one, a web page seems to limit daily connection usage.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9s-pRG6smmGbTF2VkMxcmtjaFk/edit?usp=sharing

www.microwaves.zxq.net/76GHz/76GHz.html

There is quite a lot of wind noise to the audio at times.  All of the cameras suffered this with the internal mics.  Also I managed to leave my 47G Rx hissing at one time.

Its a fairly long video at 19 minutes duration but hopefully will convey the good time we were having pushing the boundaries on 76GHz.

Folks,
I will be at Newark tomorrow. I will bring a few PGA and SPF Amps with me. I'll be either around the RSGB PSC stand or on The DX Shop stand for the 12:00 meeting.

Re: Reports for Scatterpoint

Robert Price <g8dtf@...>

Hi John

I'll have to get the Scatterpoint report out sooner. Let me know when your deadline is approaching.

I wonder how your QRO system for 3cm is coming along.

I managed to work my first station outside the UK on 3cm during the lift (F6DKW).

Things are not too good on the health front at the moment. the Op I had in March still has not healed and I may have to have it re-done.

I have had a bit of fun playing 9cm recently (I even heard 3 beacons). I really need to get some preamps built for 13cm and 9cm to go up at the masthead. 15m of FSJ4-50 has appreciable loss on 9cm.

Thanks Ralph

It will be a useful indicator I'm sure. The 23cm beacon is very useful, heard here on two or three occasions already.

Does anyone know where I can buy a sheet of Taconic RF35, 0.78mm thick
double sided 0.35um copper or in US parlance 30 mil thick, 1 oz copper
suitable for photo etching obviously?

Also where can I buy ATC100 and ATC800 series capacitors in small
quantities in Europe? I have already asked about the caps but I forget
things a lot these days
