Re: Offset dish focal point
You can use the same formula, provided you use D= the shortest diameter of the ellipse. The focus can then be put anywhere along the long axis (diameter) at that distance F ( that you just calculated)

I happened to have the spec, from when replaced the dish, it's one left from a job, where we resited the dish with a new one when the garden was landscaped , I have the old one sitting in my lock up,

Is your AGC off ? Biggest here is +18 so far. Weakest that decoded is -7.
Antenna is 2 x 60 ele.

That's a difficult one! It depends on the geometry of the dish. If its a standard offset dish ie. a slice from a parabola, it would probably work OK. However, some dishes,

The distribution of decodes between -8 and +6 is also interesting. A real bell curve, as you might expect. Median is close to -1dB
On the horizon there are between 2 and 4 decodes/5 second

Re: 1296.328MHz MSK144 Test Transmission
Considering the symbol rate for this mode is 2000 S/s, and it probably needs a S/N of 0dB ish (to stay just above Shannon) then -8dB ref 2.5kHz seems remarkably good.

Re: 1296.328MHz MSK144 Test Transmission
It looks like the reports MAY be saturating at +6dB. This was an issue with WSJT-X JT4 previously. Until there is a full release we should not rely on these reports, I suspect.

Biggest seen is +6dB. Weakest is -8dB
Elevating to 12dB reduces the number of decodes/5s but didn't affect the signal reports. These remained in the same range, Approx.

Yes, excellent decodes now. Beaming up at 12 deg to reduce signal levels a bit

I guess you’ve turned your beam. Consistent decodes every period.

Rig turned on and WSJT started this morning so rig probably drifted 30 orso Hz as it warmed up (approx 1 hour) so that may explain early drift.
Will start Planefinder to try to identify which

Re: 1296.328MHz MSK144 Test Transmission [1 Attachment]
So you're Txing on top of me. If you select to transmit in the odd numbered 5 second slots, ie 05, 15, 25 etc should give the listeners something to play with.
I suggest reading the manual

Now that is interesting....
Assuming your tuning is unchanged for the duration, the frequencies are showing quite a bit of random variation - as one would expect from aircraft backscattering.

1296.328MHz MSK144 Test Transmission
Hi Group
Well I finally decided that I should take a look at the WSJT lark and have downloaded WSJT-X and have interfaced it to the rig
I am now TXing on 1296.328 MSK144 beaming North from IN89RK

Re: 1296.328MHz MSK144 Test Transmission
GB3DUN reflections are a lot weaker than usual, and Martlesham is 12dB down. DUN is about 100km closer to me than chez JNT. There is a band of heavy rain just south of here which probably explains
