Re: Réf. : Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
Now I'm setting the BandSelect bits correctly, all it working as it should
EXCEPT, /32 and /64 are still not availalble. So it really is a fault / pirated chip. And could be a mis-labelled

Same one I have. Fake or not it works. Maybe the difference is that I am using the Arduino sketch? Its 99% GUI like most software but the register writing is fairly simple and its not doing anything

Hi Chris thank you for the reply
I will test them out as detectors firstbut one defiantly has the words Duff on it
I was thinking of contacting you aboutother things do you have a HP 70000

Hello Neil,
Thanks much for info. Phase noise OK at 10244 MHz.
Hope to be able to use one as LO at 3975 MHz for 8.4 GHz receiver, if phase
noise is not too bad.

Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
Every real AD device I've used always has the triangle-in-a-square logo on the package. If that symbol is not present, it's a reasonable assumption it is not a proper Analog Devices chip. Isn't

Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
I have a 'black' Chinese ADF4351 board and a 'red' SV1AFN board. Both chip packages look identical, with no AD logo, right-justified text and a # before the date code (which differs between boards!).

Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
WELL WELL WELL
Just downloaded the older ADF4350 data sheet, and guess what. That device is near identical the the ADF4351 but only offers an output divider down to /16 - sounds familiar.
Methinks

Hi Rein, 2556MHz for x4 to 10224MHz, 144 IF at 10368. My settings are:
INT 255
FRAC 3
MOD 5

Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
Quite possibly, but I WAS programming the divider bits correctly; thay are straightforward. There is a possibility I may have spotted though. Been away from it all day, and will look at it again

Hi Neil,
Are yu using the ADF4351 as a LO in your 10 GHz radio?
What frequency is that LO at , if so.

Hi Andy,
I know its unlikely but is there a remote possibility you are not programming it correctly?

Re: Réf. : Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
Something to bear in mind if you are using one of these cheapo 4351 boards, if you swap the ref input to the SMA for an external ref byt blob-soldering the pads, you must also remove the power

Re: Réf. : Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
Under the microscope, the casing looks unpainted, the pin-1 dot is very clear and distinct, and I've tried several solvents with no impact so far. The board is VERY clean now though.

YES it is a mix between ADF4350 and 4351 ..
see 4350 datasheet

if you can produce a 35 Mhz signal, it is good

Re: Réf. : Re: Suspicious ADF4351 Devices - may be fakes
Sometimes the fakers 'black top' (paint) the chips before re-marking. Some are so bad that the paint over-spray can be seen on pins. The paint often chips away at the edges too.
