Some people have a steel tap guide block drilled with perpendicular clearance holes, pop in the tap over the hole to be tapped, clamp the block to the job and tap away. Swarf accumulation

What would help , would be an adaptor , that would srew onto the heatsink , into existing holes , or be clamped , into which a pin chuck would fit , snugly , to prevent sideways movement .....

I was told once , that Parafine(?) was a good cutting agent ...........
I use a good T tapholder
I do use Pin Chucks , but you have to be very gentle indeed , and have your elbow resing on something

For lubricant, I tend to use WD40, there may be better, but I find WD40 to be more than adequate.

I would try a piece of bar, say 8mm thick with clearance hole, use the tap to line it up then clamp it and you have solved the "keeping it straight" part, probably better than by eye.
