I have had a quick look at the web stream audio provided by Bryan.
The signal from the beacon GM3WOJ/b is as Bryan say constant. I note slight amplitude variation but nothing to suggest any variation

Great job, Brian. We need more beacons 'on the fringes'. There's a lot which we don't know, or perhaps appreciate about marginal microwave propagation in places other than the North Sea basin

I have been monitoring the GM3WOJ personal beacon in IO77WS. It is a consistant signal at my QTH in Edinburgh. It is audible above the noise all of the time on a 40cm dish. I would be interested in

I am now continuously monitoring the signal at my home QTH in Edinburgh IO85JV. It is audible all of the time varying a bit with conditions. The distance is 215 km over the top of the Cairngorms

I had a reasonable UKAC from GD with my 1 watt from Kates cottage on the A18 road 377m ASL .
FT817nd driving an MMT1296 transverter and two x 46 element Q loops.

Hilltop sites are notoriously bad for cellphone reception, unless there isa cell on or near the site you are using, even then if it is O2 or Vodaphone andit is a rural area it’s likely to be

I use a MiFi slab its on EE these are black slabs with wifi to your laptop and internet connection and have built in batteries. I plonk it on the dashboard or on the car roof, trying not to drive off
