WRD-750 Flange
Chris Bartram <yahoo@...>
Does anyone have a WRD-750 flange which I could buy off of them? I need it to
make a transition from a big TWT which is fitted with a WRD-750 flange to WG17. WRD750 is a ridged WG with major internal dimensions similar to WG17. I'm also in the market for a WRD-750 load so that I can test my transition... Vy 73 Chris GW4DGU

Conductive epoxy
Chris Bartram <yahoo@...>
I can't answer the question - I'd like an answer myself, 'cos at £50 for the
RS product, I'm rather put off! While trawling the net I did come across a site which suggested making silver loaded epoxy yourself by buying silver powder, and mixing it 50/50 (presumably by volume) with the epoxy/hardener mix. I haven't investigated silver powder yet, but that's presumably available at a reasonable price from chemical reagent suppliers. Vy 73 Chris GW4DGU

Silver loaded epoxy..where?
Chris G8BKE
Anyone know of a cheap source of SMALL quantities of silver loaded conductive epoxy for sticking
microwave leadless diodes in place? Most suppliers seem to sell it by the bucket load at huge cost and it goes off before you can use it all. (Silver loaded paint is a non-starter as its not conductive enough) 73 de Chris G8BKE Web Site:- http://www.qsl.net/g8bke/index.html

Re: sky dish
Chris G8BKE
Bob,
I have used this dish with a the dual mode feedhorn for 10GHz http://www.qsl.net/g3pho/horn.htm and also a dual band feed horn for 10 and 24G albeit not "in anger" out /P! However with both feeds it seems to perform well on beacon reception compared with say a 60cms offset. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/g8bke/tenghz.htm Chris Hi I would be interested in anyone using a 'sky' type dish on 3cms that is one 50cms wide and 40cms high details of thier findings re feed horn etc at present I am using the original. I know the site but didnt see anything on there. Not sure this was the same people they appeared in friedrichshafen and weinheim last year remember they had all the 24g stuff set out? Re: Microwave SDR Group
Jonathan Naylor <naylorjs@...>
We wouldn't rule out a USB interface in the long term, but we've set
our sights on Ethernet as we feel is does the best job all round. There is such a thing as Power over Ethernet (PoE) which can handle more power than a USB port, 15W I think, and we will look into that in due course also. I've certainly used USB to Ethernet adapters and they work very well. We are using 100baseT, not 10baseT due to bandwidth requirements. I'm not sure that a web interface is suitable for a weak signal radio, maybe with AJAX it would be usable, but we're not going there yet. The PC end has to be a thick client as that is where the DSP is done, and even with a web front end, there is still significant processing behind the scenes. I am thinking in the long term that we could split the GUI functionality and the DSP part and use IP for that too. The audio could be decimated/interpolated to 8 KHz sample rate which would reduce the bandwidth requirements considerably, but that would be after the DSP. There is at least one amateur operating remotely such a station, in fact across national boundaries! Just imagine a remote shack on a mountain ...... Some comments
Ethernet V. USB The IP address (lack of) problem in a company network. You can use a USB to Ethernet adaptor to turn the Ethernet port into USB; www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002AFKN0/026-1538281-3316427 No need to beg an IP address. Ethernet is OS agnostic. Ethernet cable can be 200m long, USB is good for 5m. Lack of Ethernet power, could still use the USB port for power only (as in the SoftRock). Bandwidth for ATV, at home run Freeview TV over Ethernet and Wi-Fi every day without any problem, so don't think it will be an issue. Ethernet also supports remote operation. GUI The colour scheme can be changed, a good example is Ham Radio Deluxe that supports high contrast colour schemes. Using Ethernet and a mini Webserver a new GUI design could be 30 minutes with an HTML editor. --- In ukmicrowaves@..., "Willis, MJ \(Michael\)" <m.j.willis@...> wrote: [mailto:ukmicrowaves@...] On Behalf Of Jonathan NaylorI thanunderstand why you went for Ethernet.I would disagree on this point. We want to be able to support the low200mW and 3 dB NF but I suspect this is merely the back end to a thenoise amplifier and a driver for the high power amplifier.Correct. Most microwave operators are familiar with system design in of usband, just as a nice band to use for a transverter IF for those design awith transverters already. It has been talked about. If someone were to come forward and front end, it might arrive even quicker. The constraints on designare not bad, the local oscillator must be clean BUT it does not need toa go Mike?Divide the LO by 3?Why can you not use a DDS to generate a "dirty" signal, multiply thisup to act as an in band beacon and and have a cleaner LO frequency lockedto it by the software every so often. All the LO filtering is thendone by DSP and it does not matter that the DDS spurs are only 40 dB down.As long as the clean LO does not drift too much this should be OK. Youcrystal source like that from the IC202S multiplied up. That circuit managesup either by multiplication or by mixing should give an LO with goodshort term stability, reasonable and correctable drift.laptopWhatever Gui interface you design, it needs to be usable with a impossible toon a hilltop when you can't see the screen very well. The current thatuse in a field. What makes you say that? There is no easy design for GUIs that will echoes the IC-706 I have hopefully meant that the least number ofscheme and relatively large figures.grey background are not easy to see when there is sun on the screen. This is the windows default.
