My recollection is a DC5101 Detector Diode from Birkett was used.
I never made a JVL so could be a memory flip.
Its listed in the MEDL catalogue as an X Band Intruder Alarm diode.
If right you could still try Birkitt for old stock.

You could look at someone like Metellics or Tyco - MA/com, Paul, but sit down

before you ask for a quote... I think Metellics are repped by Castle Microwave in Newbury. The mixer diodes that people used to use in the 'JVL transverter would probably be OK, but I can't remember the type number. Perhaps someone has one lying around... Vy 73 Chris GW4DGU

Radiall uWave detectors
Paul Marsh - M0EYT <pauljmarsh@...>
Hi folks,
i've got a 10M to 18G detector that doesnt. The diode in it has gone pop and I'm looking for a replacement. It looks to be in the same package as a Ku Gunn diode and its soldered to a small ceramic disc which is a 50 ohm load (this bit is ok). Theres a picture of said diode at http://www.uhf-satcom.com/det.jpg Anyone got any idea where I can get just the diode from? I've searched around on the radiall site but can only find complete detectors. The actual diode is 5.1mm long. Any pointers would be appreciated. regards, Paul M0EYT.

I would like to add my support to Pyrojoseph, I have bought
literally dozens of items from him and all have been excellent as described and
delivered in a reasonable time. The delivery time is variable though, I have
never waited more than 14 days and some small items have been in 3-4 days. I
have a package with a customs charge to pick up in the morning, I suspect that
will be from Joe.

It depends on the shipping company and what their loads are. It can take several weeks, or only 3 days.

I bought a small GPS oscillator kit from him two
weeks ago, and I haven't received it yet although the payment has gone through
my credit card account.
I don't want to seem too hasty in chasing him, if
several weeks is the norm.
