What software for making a .log entry?

I tried Minos Contest Logger, it makes .minos or .adi files

Can I convert either to .log??

Hi Dave  Thank you for pointing this gentlemen out he not only has 23 cm amps but also  13 Cm amps

One thing is if any one is going for a power amp for 23 Cm it should also works  OK to  1325 mhz

We have the band and we should use it

Andy

Look at Jim's W6PQL site

He has a good range and reputation , kits , assembled pa boards and control boards and built gear

Not used his gear myself but lots of others have with positive comments ( and I have no connection to Jim )

Key on all LDMOS amps is

1) don't overdrive

2) as above

3) as above

I am looking to up my RF power on 23cm.

I have a radio output of 0.5 - 10 watts for drive, it'll be used for SSB,  CW  & data. Ideally I want at least 50 watts, but much more would be great.

I know there are Gemini ones, but I can't afford them new. Also I've emailed Bert PE1RKI & VHF design to see what's on offer.

So, are there any other companies selling ready to run 23cm linear amplifiers that cost less than a Gemini? Or do you know someone selling one?

Thanks Andy GD1MIP

PS I will be at Newark on Friday so can hope.

Interesting. That looks very like a pair of XRF286s so 300W is perhaps optimistic but it's got the hard parts done..

Re: 23cm amp. Looking for suggestions of built / ready to run units.

The problem you will have is the Gemini 200W amplifier at £1300 is not all that expensive when you consider the awful exchange rate and all the extras you need on top of a basic amplifier you might get from Bert or Jim. Excellent as they are they need a good filter, heatsink, relays, protection circuitry and an enclosure. These are things you can do yourself, but the parts are quite expensive unless you can get them surplus. Hence, any commercial amp is likely to head towards £1k. Best bet is second hand from one of the many appliance operators who come and go rapidly. They don't tend to populate ukmicrowaves but can be found on Facebook and the specialist amateur radio sales sites.

Re: Wanted 3cm Transverter

Adrian yes I get reports of your activities from Peter GW4JQP. The flyswatter was 4.5 x 6 ft with 1/2 inch mesh & 288 horizontal copper wires soldered in between & mounted at the top of a 60ft Hilomast rotated by a propeller pitch motor at the base, where it was fed with a 4ft dish. The reflector had more gain than the basic dish & no feeder losses.
Where I was in Hampshire I was under the G3JVL - G3YGF path either of which were only just detectable for a few percent of the time. Heavy rain then S9+ even on open waveguide (in plastic bag) at ground level. Sounded very auroral but much less so when using the swatter. In fact it was at that time G3YGF suggested a memory keyer & a Class A Licence might be helpful. So I built a keyer & took the test (I have no particular interest in HF)

This it a coupler and not an isolator or circulator ! Just read what is printed on the part.

John yes after 32 years I still have the Shorland Armoured Patrol Car (my avatar) but the three other armoured cars & armoured missile launcher have now gone. I have an ex-RAF 110 Defender blown up in Afghanistan which is my radio truck. 24v with two alternators for two pairs of batteries & a Clark PU8 mast on each rear corner is handy.
You will note the rise in interest in military vehhicles was inversely proportional to my radio activity although living in a National Park was not conducive to an adequate antenna system.
3cm looks promising, just waiting to check on a few details.
Yes the rain issue, I was just playing to the public misconception :)

we spent 3 weeks on the Welsh coastline in the summer with just a single day of rain and temperatures up to 25 deg C!
Do not believe the rumors! Fantastic spots out there.

Although I am in a valley in S.Wales IO71 where you can't even get a mobile signal, I well remember the spetacular enhancements I used to get from heavy rain scatter, as we get a fair bit of that here it seems a shame not to make use of it!

I use a good quality dual gain stereo scope "donated" by a grateful employer some years ago - it was a replacement QA item used for checking cracks in the glass seals of reedswitch envelopes .
Illumination is a big part of using such devices as has been said .
I am using currently a flexible rubberised neck LED lamp that came free with a 5V DC Power pack portable source .
You can easily position this item to optimise the shadow length and leave hands free for wobbling the tweezers around the Robot vomit  LOL .
