Re: Up onverter

Ben,
I have seen several Chinese ADF boards where the voltage regulator oscillates and causes lots of sprogs. Try adding a large capacitor (at least 100uF) on the input and output of the regulator chip to ground.
I get a very clean signal from mine after doing that mod.

Colin.

I switched to the LeoBod osc set at 656Mhz and using the 3rd harmonic the o/p at 2.4GHz is very good. One small extra blip 400khz higher for some reason.

But, the LeoBod is a rather expensive way of getting a lo sig so, is there a less expensive way of getting 1968MHz??

Re: 13cm beacons

Hello Martyn,

Just checked the Farnham beacon, GB3FNM on 2320.920MHz and I can't hear it, normally 599+++ here. Not hearing the Leicester Beacon GB3LES on 2320.955MHz but don't monitor it very often. I'm hearing GB3SCS at 599 so 13cm RX is working here. I am hearing GB3LEX on 10368.955 at 419 at the moment.

Activation of Barr Beacon near Walsall

Iain Young

Hi Guys,

I (along with G0KFS and G6KOY and 2E0CVP) intend to activate
IO92bn06/IO92bn07/IO92bn08 (Barr Beacon, nr Walsall) this coming Sunday
(15th September). The activity is most likely going to be from IO92bn07.

This trip will primarily be a bit of beacon spotting with my portable
microwave SDR setup on 23cms, 13cms, and 9cms), however I will have
23cms FM capability so will put some calls out on 1297.500 MHz.

We are also hoping to be all mode on 23cms, so if so we able (it's
depending on Operator and kit availability), we'll be on/around
1296.200MHz

Timing wise, activation will probably be around 1200 UTC until around
1500 UTC, or until we get bored/cold/decide beer is more fun!

Future trips are likely to include at least a portable beacon (But
code and hardware is not quite ready for that yet). QSO capability
needs a bit more hardware integration with the Pi.

Re: Increasing output of pll synth

Hi Stuart

My eBay ADF5355 board gave me nearer +2 dBm out at 12 GHz.  I used the input stages from an old LNB to boost it to about +12 dBm.  Not sure if another stage would have added much more.

I am looking at using one of the pll synth boards as the LO for a 24GHz transverter.
The ADF5355 board I am looking at gives +12dBm out at 12GHz
My transverter requires 14 - 17dBm
Are there any cheap / simple amplifier modules available to increase the output level?

thanks............Stuart

13cm beacons

Martyn G3UKV

Good morning
I have currently got my 13cm dish etc on the mast, but at various times that I have monitored the band, have been unable to hear either GB3LES (2320.955) or GB3FNM (2320.920)  for the last month or so. Beaconspot says they are both 'operational', but I notice no 'spots' for either since late June. Both are usually marginal here, but visible on an SDR from time to time.
Can anyone please confirm that they are currently QRV, or not ?
Thanks

Hi All

There is a silent key sale of one of the Axis-NT dual 100W-capable 2.4 GHz PAs on eBay that closes today.  Ideal for TV (or SSB with a very small dish) on QO-100.

As I understand it, the PA is fully modified for “low power” operation (I get >60W of DATV from mine in this configuration) and just needs 0 dBm drive and 48v at about 6A.

It would need the internal power supply replacing with an external 28v unit to achieve the full 100W each side.

Chipbank at Crawley

Michael Scott

Hi All

This is just to clarify the statement in the Crawley RT programme. I plan to attend the meeting but I will not be bringing the Chipbank stock with me. There really isn’t room now that the stock has expanded somewhat, and it would be unfair on others bringing stuff to the bring and buy to take up so much room.

If you want anything, I can make up an order for delivery at Crawley, but please let me know in good time, preferably by the end of this week.

Thanks and 73,

Mike, G3LYP.
