Re: Altium (DMC) 26 GHz modules
Christopher Bartram <cbartram@...>
Hello Noel
There are certainly some very useful DMC synthesiser, filter, and amplifier parts around. The devil is in the detail! I brought a couple of 23GHz links eight or nine years ago, and there were synthesisers which could easily be tweaked to use both as a 24.04880GHz narrowband beacon, and as a 23.606 ( Ithink ...) GHz LO. Some of the cables were also worth salvaging: the Astrolab flexibles, in particular, are rated for 24GHz use, and you don't find that sort of thing every day ... Modifying the units which I had wouldn't be easy without the right kit, as they were made using ceramic substrates and lots of wire bonded chip semiconductors. I wrote a brief note for 'Scatterpoint' at the time based on my investigations of one synthesiser module. At the time there was other information available on the net. Vy 73 Chris GW4DGU

Altium (DMC) 26 GHz modules
Noel G8GTZ
Hi
I have been offered a quantity of Tx and Rx modules from DMC Stratex 26 GHz links. Can't find too much on the web but they appear to be complete LO, mix and Tx PA modules all connected by SMA (no waveguide)and are similar in construction to these 28 GHz units: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DMC-stratex-28GHz-MX-RF-plugin-transmitter-receiver-/130376990900?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b1300b4 They are owned by the local IT salvage company who is landlord to GB3HV and there are several Rx and Tx/Rx modules. Are these of any interest / useable on 24 GHz - I can bring deliver to Kempton Park or Martlesham. Best 73 Noel - G8GTZ

Transverter Enclosure Wanted
Alan Melia
Hi Keith I have had a quick loook at some catalogues and cant see anything to meet your requirements either. It ocurrs to me that removable top, front and back might make a case rather difficult to build stoutly. Yhis sort of style is available in Hammond extruded cases but not to the size you require in my catalogues. It might be worth looking at Hammonds web site, and asking them to nominate a supplier if then dont deal direct in something you find suitable.
I wonder if a different approach would be easier. This is to mount the tranverter on a tray behind the front panel and use a rack-style case. I think that would be larger than your suggested dimensions. It would also be quite expensive, I guess you could be looking at 60 or so for all the bits you might need. Best Wishes Alan G3NYK

I am trying to source a nice enclosure for my home made transverter. I am looking for something around the size of 290mm W x 180mm D X 80mm H
I would like the case to have removable front and back panels and a removable top.
I have looked at a few websites and suppliers but can’t find anything that meets or is close to matching my requirements.
Would anybody have any suggestions for suppliers that I could try?

Re: Transverter Enclosure Wanted

Hi,
I think you may need to bite the bullet and buy on of those very expensive Hammond cases from Farnell,
They have moulded aluminium tops and bottoms. I put a centre piece in mine.
This means you can get at the pcbs easily.Failing that it would be a normal U case from Ebay from Ha5xxx
I was reluctant to spend the money and didn't want to make one, but the Hammond cases are very good and did what i needed
regards
Geoff

Anyone going to Martlesham Microwave Roundtable with 10 GHz VNA + N calkit?
David Kirkby <david.kirkby@...>
I've got an HP 85032B N calibration kit which is designed for use to 6
GHz. I'd like to get the capacitance of the open standards from the 85032B cal kit measured if possible, so I could use the kit in the 3 cm band. Unfortunately, used 85054B "N" calibration kits sell for 50% of what I paid for a used 20 GHz VNA. I wonder if there is anyone going to Martlesham Microwave Roundtable who is taking a VNA able to measure to at least 10 GHz with a suitable N calibration kit? If so, I'll bring along my open standards, with a view to getting the phase measured to at least the 3 cm amateur band. Is there anyone with an 85032B cal kit on the list who also owns one of the better cal kits such as the HP/Agilent 85054B or 85054D so they could measure their 85032B opens and let me know what the capacitance is? Dave, G8WRB.

Mull of Galloway IO74np this week - 3 and 9cm
Hi there,
Just to say, will be on holiday at the lighthouse at the Mull of Galloway this coming week. I will be qrv on Sunday from 1200 since the wx looks fairly good. Should be available other times especially early evening but feel free to email or phone. Mobile coverage can be a bit patchy but hopefully ok. I will be using the same 88cm offset dish for 3cm and for the first time on 9cm - Changing bands will take 10mins or so I hope.If very windy will use a smaller 78cm one. Power on 3cm is the usual 9w or so and 12w on 9cm. Operating freq will be .120 on both bands. Will try KST with my small yagi antenna to see if that improves matters. This should be a good chance to work stations I wouldn't normally be able to... Snaefell on IOM does block signals a bit to 81 and 82 square but still worth trying. My phone is 07785744643. Maybe some RS later in week? Would be great to work some of you. 73 Alan GM0USI/P
