Hi All, has anyone got a circuit diagram for a FT480 ?
The AGC is poor and using it for the if on 10 & 2.3 GHz,its a wee bit
difficult, to determine if the signals getting stronger or weaker.
The LED bargraph dos'nt move until a signal is S9 by ear

Thanks Sam

I will add that to the next columns.

Good to have you on board here!

Hi folks,
I am pleased to announce that GB3MHX (10368.830MHz) located in
JO02PB, Martlesham, returned to service ealier today (26th
September)
with an increase in output power to 0.5W into the antenna. This
should make the beacon more suited to rainscatter propagation
monitoring. The frequency of the beacon has also been reset to the
correct frequency. It was about 8kHz high after more than 5 years
of
non-resetting (crystal aging). The new frequency was measured to
be
800Hz low of .830. Normal diurnal cycling in the tower room will
cause the beacon to settle about .830, but further crystal aging
will
mean resetting again in about 12 months or so.

There will be further news of a new beacon at Martlesham later
from
one of the G4MRS team.

Sam

TWT INFO WANTED

p.day <peter@...>

Does anyone have information on the Siemens TWT type W3MT/3A ?

I particular need power supply requirements and plug/socket connection
details.

I already have details of frequency coverage, power o/p, gain and NF etc.

I recently purchased a 2nd hand Marconi 6950 RF Power meter with a
6910 probe covering 10MHz to 20GHz.

It's OK on the 5dBm and above ranges, but at the 0dBm and below
ranges there is an increasingly large zero offset as the range
decreases further.

Marconi meters such as the 6460 type (mine) do tend to do this in the low
power setting and there should be a "zero adjust" pot on the front panel. I
always set mine up in the 30uW switch position after the unit has warmed up
for some minutes even if I'm measuring much higher power levels.

Does your meter have a built in calibration output? Mine has. It's on 50MHz
and reads full scale
with any head I care to plug in..

Good luck!

Re: Question about RF Power Meter

Hey Howard

hope your well.

You coming to Martlesham??

I am not familiar with that meter but there are a couple of
possibilities:

1. the head has been overloaded (prob the reason)

2. the calibration of the unit is out.

I was looking for details of a Marconi 6559 meter on the net and
found a few places with handbooks. Maybe that will help.

Its likely that the meter has been overloaded and the head is now
misalligned - I have some details in the Microwave Updates on fixing
these thermistor type heads - I will see what I can find for you.

Is this likely to be the probe or the meter, and if so is it simply
a
calibration job or is one of these bits likely to be dodgey, and
therefore I am the pround owner of a kipper?

Welcome Aboard!

gm4plm <simon@...>

Welcome! As an attempt to kick start some co-ordinated activity
between UK microwavers (and close friends in EU) I thank you for your
interest and your joining this group.

The group is for discussion of amateur radio above 1 GHz, any mode,
any style (ie terrestrial satellite EME etc) - Please be an active
addition to the group and share news and information that you know
of.

It seems there is much going on in the UK but in isolated groups.
News does not seem to penetrate everywhere and much of it gets
missed. I visualise this group as spreading news, information etc
around the UK (and EU as our close neighbours). This should include
whats available on the second hand and surplus markets and what
events are coming up, contests etc. I do notice that information on
surplus items gets banded about but does not reach some parts of the
UK outside the central belt!

Please use the group constructively and responsibly. I don't want it
to turn into a soapbox, RSGB bashing ground, or an area for personal
attacks. Lets be sensible but constructive - its not a moderated
group and I am not the censor - I only set it up to try and stimulate
some activity in the hope this will permeate to the bands!

Thanks for your time and interest!

feel free to post away!
