Yes, I've made cables like that myself. A true D'OH!!! Moment.
Just take a fine file and dress the points of the SMA nut by
about half a mm. Then it'll fit through the bnc nut and you can still use a
spanner on the SMA

to mount some kit in a box. The nut for the BNC
is behind the fitting.
How do you get the nut off the cable when
it's too small to slide over
