Thanks for the replies.It may sounded as a beginners question (for 3
cm it's correct :-) ),but maybe there was a good reason to do so,but I
had second thoughts about it for reasons mensioned here.

The Power output is about 37 dBm.The Power amplifier uses a LT1085
and a negative voltage guard.
And indeed,idle current is about 1.9 Amp so it nedded some big
heatsinking and a fan for keeping it cool when leaving the amp on
