Esoteric Within Exoteric - Dr Tillett's comments
In 2013 there was a post on theos-talk regarding the Esoteric within Exoteric paper by Dr. Tillett of CWL Bio fame. I am reposting it. Dr. Tillett's comments on the feedback he got from 'theosophists' is very interesting. The feedbackers are supposed to practice Universal Brotherhood! M K Ramadoss Theosophy News Reporter ++++++++++++ Dr Santucci’s response is, as far as I know, entirely accurate. I know
of no evidence to suggest that my paper was not published by him for any
reason other than my failure to complete it to an appropriate academic
standard (despite requests from him). I must acknowledge that the fault
was entirely mine! I agreed to the request to publish the draft paper because I cannot, at present, foresee being able to revise, update and complete the paper to the standard I would expect for a scholarly publication. I very much regret that other demands on my time have limited my ability to undertake scholarly writing in the field of Theosophical history for many years (despite my accumulation of ever increasing amounts of material). Dr Santucci has sought to maintain the essential standards of scholarly research and publication for “Theosophical History” – an unusual approach, indeed, in this field! And one for which those of us interested in the area owe him an extraordinary debt of gratitude. The cost to him, in time and money, cannot be underestimated. I have long been aware of the hostile correspondence which followed the 1992 conference. I have also long been subjected to hostile, threatening and insulting communications from those who claim a commitment to “brotherly love”, in relation to my biography of Leadbeater, the 1992 conference and (now) as a result of the publication of “The Esoteric Within The Esoteric”. I am sufficiently professionally experienced in dealing with the malevolent, the psychiatrically dysfunctional and “bully boys” to be amused rather than impressed, let alone disturbed, by such pathological outbursts! There are some for whom “There is no religion higher than truth” has been reframed to “There is no religion higher than a carefully edited and selectively adjusted version of truth”. Re: UltraSecret ER – Cat is out of the bag
The list of members, list of office bearers, bylaws, assets and liabilities, annual accounts, minutes of meetings of the following societies and any changes in them must be filed with the Registrar of Societies. List of Societies with their registration number and year of registration are given below. It is illegal for these societies to operate and function from the premises of the TS in Adyar using TS resources without express permission of the General Body of the TS and the occupying societies and the Registrar and without registered Agreements between them. (I am not sure about # 7.)

UltraSecret ER – Cat is out of the bag
Ultra Secret ER – Cat is out of the bag Anyone who is attracted to the first object – Universal Brotherhood and joins the Theosophical Society is unaware of the cross membership in ES, Co-Masonic, and ER. Legally they are independent entities. But without membership in them, you cannot climb the organizational ladder. One makes personal pledges of secrecy and there is a camaraderie and elitistness driven by the powerful belief of accelerated spiritual progress towards chelaship of an Adept. It keeps all silent. That is a reason for lack of members’ participation in social media. Good standing in the Theosophical Society is a pre-requisite. So losing the membership results in automatic termination from these organizations (except Co-Masonic). Termination is psychologically traumatic event like you being prevented from entering your Church or Temple. It is a great leverage on members.
Sri Ram and Radha Burnier headed all the organizations and members’ personal pledges consolidated their power.
Gregory
Tillett, author of CWL bio was the first one to reveal secret ER. He
was working on a publication on ER. Unfortunately, he died before he
completed it. Fortunately, Joseph Ross, author of Krotona History,
has released a publication which reveals cross linkages of these
organizations. It is not yet available for sale. It has very valuable
unpublished information that would delight any student of history of
Theosophical Society. Any one who wants to join the Theosophical Society should read it so they know what they are getting into. Due to the independence of Theosophy News we are able to bring you the great news

Egyptian Rite --
How many of you have heard of Egyptian Rite. It is super secret rite within Theosophical Society. Membership is by invitation only. It's existence was kept very secret for a very long time. First time this writer came to know about it was from Gregory Tillett's Book - Elder Brother. Very very little info is available about it. Tillett had accumulated a lot of material about it and was working on a publication. Unfortunately he died before he could finish it. Fortunately, now there is a publication about it. Keep tuned for more information.

Re: American Theosophy Now a Cult?
Thanks Pavel The issue of treatment of "blacks" in USA is a very sensitive and serious one. One has to live a long time in USA to understand it. I have lived a very long time in USA and a recent theosophical incident opened my eyes to the lack of afro american members in theosophy in USA. I have seen only 1-1/2 black theosophists during the last nearly fifty years. The role of Thesophical Society is to spread theosophy to all. A Great Adept commented: "The white race must be the first to stretch out the hand of fellowship
to the dark nations, to call the poor despised “nigger” brother." The message is clear. New York, Chicago, Houston have several thousands of black citizens. But rarely you will find theosophists. Theosophy has not reached them. Surely it is systematic since no theosophical leader in the last 50 years have discussed it. In India, certain segment is called "untouchable". Theosophical Society has effectively reached them and treated them a equal to the top class "Brahmins". In the State of Karnataka, this was effectively done more than 100 years ago and today it has as many theosophists as entire USA has. Apart from the failure of leaders - past and present - not taking steps to take theosophy to the blacks and other minorities, the issue has never been discussed. When you visit any theosophical conference or meeting in USA, you will rarely see blacks. Theosophical Society is not a private organization. It does not pay taxes. So public is indirectly subsidizing its nearly $3million annually. Hence, Public can question if it is not living upto its objective of Universal Brotherhood. Losing the tax free status will kill the Society in USA. Only because this discussion list is independent and does not take any money from any organization, we are able to discuss it and it is a blessing from the High. It’s not up to the Society or the leaders that the society is not multiracial enough. It’s up to the people themselves to join or not to join. At least that is my basic, uninformed opinion. Also, the previous President (now the President of the Theosophical Society Adyar), Tim Boyd, was black, or so looked to me. What more do you want?

Good News - American Section
Several months ago when Covid19 shut down the normal operations at the American Section Headquarters, there was a furlough of hard working staff. Fortunately Government stepped in to help through a program called PPP giving a grant of 2-1/2 months' salary and operating expenses. American Section too got the money. But was very secretive about it. Instead, there was a frantic call asking for donations. When the PPP money was received, it leaked out on Facebook by a staff member. Next day it was taken down. No further information was available. But workers came back from furlough. We do not know if all of them were restored. Now we know what happened. On April 8, 2020, American Section received $254,900 protecting 43 salaried persons inclusive of top officials. While donation solicitation is ongoing, we should thank the USA taxpayers helping American Section. And we should thank the transparency of the Government. With help from Kern Foundation and Fetzer Trust and generosity of theosophists, looks like there is enough money to keep the operations. But no one discusses the most critical problem facing American Section. It is lack of diversity especially afro american members. This is a very sensitive issue and can become a critical issue in the coming days. Unless this issue is addressed quickly, future of Theosophy in America thru Theosophical Society looks grim. Let us keep tuned. Peace

Re: LIFE IS A PARADOX. AND SO, HOW DOES ONE DEAL WITH PARADOXES?
Pavel Axentiev
Yes, I've come to a similar conclusion recently. Sometimes life presents us with paradoxes that are painfully obvious, too. Such as when both your action and inaction result in suffering, and you, not knowing the outcome, decide to refrain from action that will cause minimal amount of harm and realize only later that an immense amount of harm has been done. The result is accumulated karma. "Inaction in a deed of mercy" becomes an action in ... profound peace? Only fully developed bodhisattvas (Arhats?) can fully assess their actions with, perhaps, minimal error. Such beings, by definition, have fully realized their bodhicitta - desire to achieve full enlightenment for the benefit of all beings without exception.

LIFE IS A PARADOX. AND SO, HOW DOES ONE DEAL WITH PARADOXES?
LIFE IS A PARADOX.
AND SO, HOW DOES ONE DEAL WITH PARADOXES?
The question itself is wrong. To think of dealing with paradoxes, not to speak of resolving them, is a fundamentally wrong approach. If it can be dealt with or resolved, then it is no longer a paradox. Well, a paradox cannot even be understood and therefore when I claim understanding of life or existence, either I am deluding myself or lacking in much needed humility or at the best, I am being simplistic.
Paradoxes deal with uncertainty and ambiguity. Life's paradoxes are the most so. There is no question of gaining familiarity, control, consistency, and the conclusion we often seek in understanding the aspects of life.
People, who claim to be experts, have tried tricks like Polarity Mapping and Duality Mapping in the business management senarios to deal with conflicting pulls and pushes. But these exercises, or models based on them, have not worked in managing conflicting business goals with any element of certainty - not even short term goals.
Paradoxical forces can not only be opposed, but also can cooperate with each other or complement each other and the best part is, they can change these positions.
The Yin and Yang philosophy is based on the premise that everything in the world consists of two elements that can be potentially conflicting and as well as potentially complementary. I should qualify this with words like, 'unintended' 'unimagined', 'unanticipated', unannounced' or 'unexpectedly'. This and such other philosophies always leave you in a blissful suspended state. Blissful? Yes, if the mind is trained not to seek certainty, finiteness, conclusions and permanence.
Nature's designs for existence seem to be made only of paradoxes. There cannot be any other way. I appear to exercise my freewill in my actions (or in my deliberate inaction which is also action) but I am actually forced to do so (so much for freewill!) and that too only to make some choices within limited options. And the outcomes and their impacts can be anybody's guess.
Yes. Life is a paradox. Period. No further analysis.
