I set the Hougoumont battlefield up and pulled the troops today.
I find that I am short 4 French limbers and 3 British rocket bases.
If anyone Has some they are willing to loan for the game I'll be very thankful.
We can of course substitute another nation's limbers but why do it if we don't need to?

In the meantime, here's a couple pics of the table.
You won't want to miss this one !!

Larry says he has the limbers covered.

If no one has the rockets we’ll just fudge it.  It’s not like they’ll actually hit anything, right ?

Off board artillery is the best.  No need to paint...or even buy!

Ah yes.
But we play with miniatures so we can behold the panoramic spectacle of the game.

If we try to just use our imaginations and pretend that the artillery is there, we will fail and forget to drink our beer.
Can’t have that.

Here’s a few pre-game shots to get you in the mood for Saturday’s game.
Try to arrive sometime between 9 and 10 AM so we can start right at 10.
There will be a brief pre-game introduction and then we’ll get right to it !
British Guards moving up to the all-but-abandoned Chateau to protect the Allied right flank.

Nassauers have lined the hedge south of the farm. Nervously watching the woods for signs of French activity.

Hannoverian jagers have also moved up to the hedge line to cover the Nassauer left flank south of the gardens.

Another look at the Hannoverians as they block the road and watch the fields south of Hougoumont’s formal gardens.

The unmistakable sounds of troops marching can be heard across the fields.
Unfortunately, they seem to be getting louder.
It looks like Boney is definitely sending some of his boys this way.

So far, an interesting battle. Thanks Bob for all the work setting it up and lunch and to Karen for putting up driveway blockage and "us". I also wish to point out that the blockage was ED's fault! I am just totally impressed with the way the table "looks". Great to see everybody. Hopefully see you all in two weeks.

Thanks to the seven guys who braved the wilds of Belgium to participate in the destruction of the countryside.

The battle got off to a bit of a late start due to much strategizin' on both sides.
So, we only got through just over half the turns.
We agreed to schedule the finish in two weeks, however after consulting the oracle I find that March 13th is Karen's birthday and therefor all leaves are cancelled.

I need to move the game to March 20th.
I've already put it on the club calendar.
That's three weeks away.
Hopefully, most of you can make it.
You don't have to have played in the first half to play in the second.
Please RSVP as soon as you can so I'll know whether or not we'll have enough players.

In the meantime, here are my pics:
I know some of the others took pictures also.

Really? Your letting something as mundane as a birthday push back this epic battle for a week? Bob, you have really pussed out in your old age. You have let keeping half your wealth and getting laid, get in the way of an epic game? See, your smarter than you look! :0)

Hey !
Karen says I can be in charge as long as I do what she says.
