Friday's game

Bob <brodgers@...>

I thought the game went pretty well.
Everyone seemed to like the scenario. ??

Some things we did wrong:
1. When a unit goes into Disorder it moves back 6". Not a full move.
2. When a routed unit checks and fails morale it remains in rout. It
doesn't go "poof". Routed Units can only attempt to rally if they are
at least 10" away from the nearest enemy.
3. When infantry or artillery are charged, and if they pass their
morale check they only have three options;
A. Evade (or try).
B. Stand as they are.
C. Form Square.
If Infantry is assaulted, it has the added option of advancing to
meet the assault.
Inf or Arty may not pivot or otherwise turn to face a flanking charge
or assault.

Also, no-one has used skirmishers to help abate enemy fire.

This Friday's (30th) game

Bob <brodgers@...>

Bellegarde's Austrian Advance Guard Korps is pushing through a mountain
pass with the task of making sure its open for the main body to follow.
These Austrian troops are veterans and have been recently re-organized
as a part of Archduke Charles' reforms.

Lannes' French II Corps has been tasked with area security and he is
moving into the pass with two of his divisions. While large, the
divisions are still somewhat green.

Lasalle's Independant Cavalry division is temporarily assigned to
Lannes as well. These troops are veterans of numerous campaigns and
know what they're doing.

Austrians: Clear the pass or at least control the village and bridge
crossings.

French: Deny the Austrians the use of the village and bridge crossings.

Rules: "Imperial Lances" - playtest game.
Scale: 15mm

money and share with all of us. So, its great that you're back !
How much did I win ?! :-)

I’ll definitely take some of the Combat Zone stuff.

I will invite my son but he may have plans and/or little Napoleonic interest.

John,

Just you ? No son ?
Anyway, I'll pull all that Combat Zone stuff out and you can sort
through it and decide what you're interested in. I'll even pull out
the figures and the display that shows what they look like painted.
There are also some pre-painted sets left too.
Since its all excess stock I'll sell it at 50% off.

Also, for the rest of you guys.
If you are interested in some terrain, I have a bunch of the
25mm/28mm ESLO pieces that will eventually have to go to Ebay. There
are also a bunch of terrained white-metal bases of various sizes.
Same offer for that stuff if you're interested.

Hey Mark what happened to you Friday night ?

All,
I'll set up a Nappy game between some French and Austrians for next game
night (30th). Hopefully you guys will have had a chance to at least
browse the rules. If not, that's OK. We'll play for money ! [:D]

RSVP's would help immensely in deciding how many commands I need to set
out. I'll be using the Aspern Essling unit labels since I already have
them done. But the battle won't be that big.... yet.

Battle Report

Bob <brodgers@...>

Globatech forces entered the city along 1st Street shortly after
dawn. As they were arriving they saw that the local Police were
fiddling with their lost drone. But before the Globatech Public
Relations Officer was able to say anything the Police began shooting
at the corporate Humvees. Then, without provocation, the Police
activated their Tiger I enforcer robot. The robot was placed on auto-
attack and began firing all its weapon systems at the previously
peaceful Globatech convoy.

The Police were dissapointed to find the drone empty of its contents.
But they were able to activate the second homing beacon on the
missing cargo. The beacon began signalling that it was located in the
43rd street Viper's headquarters a few blocks away.

Swat was dispatched to collect the cargo while the robot, and the
beat cops continued to pummel the Globatech humvees with all manner
of weapons. One of teh Globatech humvees was damaged and crashed into
a police cruiser. As the haz-mat team began exiting the vehicle, the
driver became incensed and fired the vehicle's recoilless rifle, at
point blank range, into the Police robot. Blowing an arm off the
robot. The second corporate humvee swung around the block and came in
behind the robot, fired its recoilless rifle, and missed.

The corporate strike team members, expecting retaliation from the
robot, began bailing out of the humvee and ducking into a nearby
alley. Only the driver and gunner remained.

The police and their robot again attacked the first disabled humvee
and succeeded in destroying the vehicle in a spectacular display of
flames and sparks. However, the second humvee was able to reload and
fired a well aimed shot that scored a critical hit on the robot which
exploded in a ball of flame.

Meanwhile the Swat team came under heavy small arms fire as they
neared the Viper's headquarters. Their armored police humvee had no
trouble defecting all shots. The swat team then returned fire from
the moving vehicle and were able to hit a couple of the gangers while
making some others dive for cover.

... And then we ran out of time. :-(

The gangers could claim to have succeeded in acheiving their
objective of keeping the stolen cargo. The police might have been
able to get the cargo if there had been more time Since they were
close. But it would have been a tough fight. And the corporate strike
teams were still the strongest group on the table and would have been
hard to keep from getting their property back after they finished
mopping up the few surviving police officers.

Players were Dave, Richard, and John.
I moderated.

Friday night's game

Bob <brodgers@...>

Post apocalyptic mayhem.

The year is 2025. The world has been in ruins for a few years. Most
of the planet is a no-man's land that is roamed by savage gangs
trying to set up thier own mini-feifdoms.

Lately a few large multi-national corporations have begun taking
control of some areas and life within their protective compounds is
better. However, they tend to be rather totalitarian. And since there
is little or no law enforcement any more, the corporations have their
own forces for protection from the gangs as well as other
corporations. Sometimes those forces are also used as private armies
when certain "dirty work" needs to be done.

Globatech is one of those corporations. They have lost a valuable
piece of equipment somewhere in Cyber City and they want it back.
Bionetica is a rival corporation that would also like to get their
hands on whatever it was that Globatech lost.

In the middle are the Cyber City police and the gangs that call Cyber
City their turf. They know that whoever "finds" the lost item can
quickly become very rich, or very dead, depending on how smart they
are. These groups have learned how ruthless the corporations can be
and have adopted their tactics, and weaponry, accordingly.

Rules are "Combat Zone".
Scale is 28mm man-to-man skirmish in a ruined urban environment.

We could aim to fight Aspern/Essling as the first game in May. Make
that a Saturday, all-day battle. It will probably get us all
motivated to paint whatever we need to finish up in time.

What do you all think about that ?

The anniversary of Aspern/Essling is in May. Wagram is in July.
I was hoping to at least be able to do Aspern/Essling on time.

I have no problems with having more game days. Especially for
single big battles.

If everyone will take a rough inventory of their Nappy forces we
will be able to get a better idea of where we’re short. Try to have
an idea when you come Friday night.

Dave, there were also some battles taking place in the Penninsular
in ’09 so we could probably do some with Brits this year too.

Bob

I like the idea of doing them for the anniversary. Since these are
larger battles, maybe we should try to do another long day? Or two?

Looking at the calendar, maybe Labor Day, September 7th would be a
good candidate? We are currently scheduled to play on the eleventh
as a normal game night. This would give us a good run at it without
everyone forgetting the rules. (Assuming, like me, most will be
learning the rules)

Any thoughts?

Also, if you can give me an idea of what I might need to pick up for
the French, I could help in that regard.
