Re: VUL-CON, 2/26/2012, 12:00 am

Chris

Does anyone know how to get to a loading dock at the convention to offload the gaming goods? Also, is there a storage place lined up for over Saturday night? I'm hoping to get there around 9, but I have a habbit of running late.

Thanks. --cb

Hmmm……

I generally prefer Bass Ale or Beck’s Dark.

Sam Adams is also a reasonable alternative choice. In a pinch.

But, maybe we should go for something more local.

Coors ??

And I know of at least one club member who likes Bud Light.

This is not a decision we should make lightly.

I recommend that the club do some very extensive research and a great deal of field testing before we decide on a new “official” club beer.

I wanted to surprise Bob and get some Dinkel Acker since he placed it as our "Official" beverage. After much frustration and irritation I resorted to the internet. It seems that it has not been imported to the US since 2009. In light of this, I would like to ask that we change our official beverage to something a little easier to procure. Anyone have any ideas?

I am a Pale Ale guy and enjoy Killian's Red.

So, if you move, then shoot (1/2) you are halved. And if its at long range (1/2), you're quartered.

Those retire moves make better sense.

Losing your cowardly leader can be quite terrifying I guess.

Isn't learning a new rule set fun !

"Retire" should be 3" for infantry and 6" for Cavalry.

A leader being killed places a "Terror" marker on that unit and adds to the morale roll if one is needed for that turn. A replacement Captain is drawn immediately.

These according to the Spanish Fury 2nd edition you put in the File section.

Overall, I like these rules too. Just a learning curve to get the nuances down.

We started a large ECW game Saturday using "VERY CIVILE ACTIONS". The game is going well and we're leaving it set up to finish next game day.
A couple things we did incorrectly.
Richard, your cavalry shouldn't have had to test for "Fear of Charge" since they weren't being charged by their betters. So having them rout before fighting would not have happened.
David, you should have been able to charge the infantry unit in the center like you wanted to do. The shot company on the end should have EITHER turned to face you and fired, then taken their lumps in the melee, or they should have immediately scampered back behind the pikes without shooting that turn. If the shot had evaded, your cavalry would have stopped 2" out from the pike block since you can't charge disciplined/formed pikes frontally. That probably wouldn't have been so bad since you had pistols.
Oh well, as we said, its a learning game and so far I think I like these rules.
I'll put the pictures of the game in progress up this week some time.

Bob,

I believe I have 2 tags that need to be corrected.

1) 2nd Army of the West / IV Res. Cav. Corps. / Chernigov Dismounted Dragoons

The Fire power is for "dismounted" and the Melee strength is for "mounted". It should be a melee strength of 5, not 8.

2) 2nd Army of the West / 1st Curassier Div. / Her Imperial Majesty's Leib Curassier

At the bottom of the tag it should show "Hvy" in the middle but it is blank.
