Both will be Nappy games to re-familiarize everyone with the quick play rules.

I think Mark said he could handle the Saxons and Westies but he "might" be able to supply SOME italians.

And Rolland says he's still working on Italians too.

If your cousin's thesis is due by Labor Day weekend, won't his work on it be done by then?
I'd assume he'll have to turn it in on that Friday?

Anyway, What I was told was that there is a group of guys going to a convention in California over the Labor Day weekend and some of them had said that they "might" like to play in the Borodino game. I got NO definite committments. Just rumors.  Some of those rumored to be interested are on this group and have not spoken up so.....?  Lets give a couple days to see what's what.

Right now, the game is scheduled to be Sat - Sun - Mon (Labor Day) .

Also, Sorry that I forgot to mention earlier that Alyx is furiously painting abandoned artillery & runaway gun crews. We're thinking we may need a few.

- finish putting the resin in the rivers
- finish the forests
- paint the table edges
- create some terrain cloths to cover the cracks between boards
- congratulate each other
- drink beer
- eat pizza

I show Me, David, Larry, John, Mark, and Rolland as providing troops.
But we really need to do a physical inventory to asses where we stand.

All troops seem to be covered except the Italians, Croats, and Wurttembergers right now.
It would be nice if the guys who will be providing figures could begin bringing them over.
We can sort them and put the tags on them.
There are bound to be some missing units that we thought we had covered.
Its better to find that out early rather than on the day of the battle.

ALSO:  It has been asked whether or not we might move the game to the following weekend of Sept 8th - 9th because some of the Northern guys are intending to go to a convention in California on Labor Day weekend.  I have not been given any indications that those guys will definately be interested in playing Borodino but I'm told there is some interest.

The battle was fought on September 7th, 1812 so the change would move the game closer to the anniversary date. But, switching weekends will reduce the game to two days rather than three since it won't be on a holiday weekend. More players will definately be better since the battle is so big. But I also know that some of us have specifically made plans to have the Labor Day weekend available for this.

I'm not available either weekend (Labor Day or the following weekend) as I will be out of town for both so I'm out either way.  As for working on the boards this weekend, I'm also out attending a family event.  Dave.

Bob,

Rick and I are setting up gaming in an empty storefront for the upcoming NerdvanaCon, which is part of Second Fridays in downtown Mesa.  The folks at Queens Pizza have graciously given us an empty storefront (125 W. Main Street) next door to them to run gaming (a portion of it will be used for Retro Video Gaming).  I know it is short notice (we received the info Wed night), and I have no idea what the turnout will be like, but we thought you might want to come out and promote the club and run some games.

The event is Friday night August 10th from 6pm to 10pm and Saturday (times still TBD, but likely 11am - 6 or 7pm).  Hope all is going well,

Like I mentioned earlier, we have no idea if the turnout will be good or bad, as this is the first time they've tried to do this at one of these events.

Thanks and have a great weekend,

It is scheduled on our regular game weekend.
I do not know what NerdvanaCon is.

Here is a blurb:

Bob

NerdvanaCon: Downtown Mesa, 8/10/2012

Nerdvana’s fifth anniversary is nearly upon us — Aug. 22, 2007, was our first post — and we’re planning to celebrate all the geeky things in the East Valley community that have made this blog so successful and rewarding.

Rather than a stand-alone event, NerdvanaCon will serve as the theme of downtown Mesa’s monthly Second Friday block party. Keep watching Nerdvana (as well as Evermore Nevermore, Second Friday and the East Valley Tribune) for specifics, but here’s a taste of what we’re planning:
  • The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th DimensionA free movie screening sponsored by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange and hosted by the Dr. Diabolic Show. Show starts at 9:30 PM and seating is limited, so please arrive early at the OneOhOne Gallery (101 West Main Street, Mesa.)
  • Genre themed discussion panels hosted by the OneOhOne Gallery include:
    • 6 PM ~ How to Draw Sheriff Joe – a workshop presented by Russ Kazmierczak Jr. of Amazing Arizona Comics.
    • 6:30 PM ~ Video Game and Sci-Fi Armor: From Concept to Reality – prop & costume creation presented by professional prop-artist/creator Allen Amis.
    • 7 PM ~ Intro to Concept Art & Digital Painting – Anabel Martinez shows how anyone can get started painting awesome fantasy and sci-fi artwork.
    • 7:30 PM ~ Voyage Trekkers – Q&A with the Voyage Trekkers creators of this local comedy web series that follows the exploits of the worst crew in the Galactic Union.
  • Science & Technology demonstrations and displays at HeatSync Labs.
  • Costume contests at the OneOhOne Gallery at 8 PM with prizes awarded by local merchants & restaurants.
  • Strategy gaming event presented by Vul-Con and hosted by Queen’s Pizzeria.
  • A genre themed artist event will be hosted by Monsterland, where comic and pop culture themed artisans will be vending their wares in a creepy corner of the haunted venue.

  • Borodino

Any of you guys interested in this?

David will be your guy for this trade.

I just gave him all my leftover unpainted Ruskies last week.

I’m pretty sure there were some Cossacks in the mix.

… And he has Brits so the trade should work for him there too.

I hope you are recovering well from your ordeal?

Haven't heard from you in a while so I thought I'd check in.

Hope you are able to get back into circulation and can get out and play soon.

    THE MARK,

I doubt there is enough time to order unpainted figures and have them delivered, painted and ready for Labor Day.

Its only 5 weeks away. If you can do that you’re a maniac!

    You have Prissians??

    Are they prissy Prussians??

Do the other Prussians make fun of them?

Do they wear pink feathers in their hats?

Rolland says he’s working on the Italians.

But time has not been on his side and he’s woefully behind.

So we’re trying to assist where possible.

As I recall, you were light on Saxon Cavalry??

Let me see how I do answering these:

    1) Commands will depend on how many people we get. I am thinking we will have 3 or 4 per side so you may end up with an entire Corps. or possibly a Division
2)No requests as far as I know. This will be a multi-day event so you could be a Frenchy one day and a Ruski the next.
    3) There is plenty of room for players. No worries about someone else not being able to play. We will have around 6,000 figures (conservative)

    On a related note:

I noticed that Rolland has put his French Army and his Austrian Army for sale on TMP. This pprobably means WE NEED ITALIANS! I doubt Mark has enough time to paint a batch of Italians to cover them.  Anyone have anything we can use? I have British and Portuguese and a few Dutch. Not much help but in a pinch......

    Just full of questions today!

So in prep for Borodino, What level are we playing at? will each player command a Division, a Corps? Also is there a preliminary head count  and any requested affiliations? I just want to make sure that by me signing up that I am not displacing anyone else :)

I do have a pre-disposition toward the French forces - however I have no qualms in killing them...I play Peninsular Brits and Portuguese so I have no qualms pouring hot lead on the frogs!

If I am the french I would love to command De'Izon's Brigade (I have a personal bone to pick with Tolstoy), or anyone under Davout.

As the Russians I would like to play as Tuchkov so I can shoot the Poles. in true Russian fashion!

I am very excited about it all.

    Thanks,

    Same rules.

    I’m trying to learn them.

I’ll only confuse myself if I switch up right now.

This game should last longer as there are fewer Raw troops.

Each player will be pushing AT LEAST a Corps.
I would hope that players would stay on the same side over the weekend rather than switching.

We will need an Italian Corps if Rolland doesn't come through.
Check the files section for the OOB.
I haven't heard from Rolland in quite a while so.... ???
