Napoleonic Battalion Frontage

Alyx Lunceford <alyx.lunceford@...>

Bob et al,

For Napoleonic units I know that the battalions have a 30mm frontage for the base, but what does that translate to in terms of real time yardage? I am designing a map for the Battle of Saltanovka (Mogilev) and need to know scales so I can put it together right.

Thanks,

Don't have the figures or rules.  However, if you want to set up the small ECW scenario we have played a couple of times, we can try Rennaissance Warfare again.  With the smaller troop size I think people will grasp the concepts better and therefore enjoy the game.   Dave.

Guys,

All the figures are now sorted.
Larry and Alyx have already picked theirs up.
John, Dave, and Mark can collect them next time you come over for a game.
I will only charge the minimum $3,000 / Day storage fee.
Plus whatever tip you feel is appropraite, of course.

Also, Missing two tape measures.
The other tape measures are quite sad and miss their siblings.
They were some of my favorite tape measures. Small, yet surprisingly
versatile.
Little silver gems in an otherwise cold, cruel atmosphere of pretend war
and rules lawyers.
So, all of you check your pockets.
[JC] I can't play on Saturday 22nd, but should be able to call by around 5.30 pm on that day to pick up the figs if that's OK.

Not guilty on the tape measure - brought my own each day. Has a short chain with a clip that lets me attach it to a belt loop.

Re: Stuff for Gettysburg 2013?

Duh! right, right, you did say it was going to be in 10 mm. Obviously I should be Pickett in the Gettysburg action as my brain is going to mush - so no fancy strategizing, I need a "straight at em" type task! :-)

This is mainly directed at Larry who was describing yesterday his plans to
probably stage a three day Gettysburg game next year.

As I understood Larry's description the rules are set up around each
regiment being a single base with numerous figures on it. I was doing some
closet cleaning today and found I have a bunch of nicely painted figs,
mostly Stone Mountain, both CSA and USA that I picked up at a Mid West con
about a year ago (they apparently were from the personal collection of
George Johnson, the guy who ran the second hand miniatures operation, GaJo.
George sadly passed away a couple of years back and some buddies were
selling his stuff on his widow's behalf).

The 15 mm figures are based 10 to a base, on 40 mm x 20 mm bases. I have
12 bases of CSA and 36 bases of USA (you can always sell Reb stuff at cons,
but the US stuff moves much more slowly - somehow people forget it takes
two armies to fight a game :-))

Normally I would rebase these to match the stuff I already have (4 figs on
a 1" x 1" base) but if they would be useful in the Gettysburg recreation I
can hold off and let them be used for that. So let me know!?
