Friday's game pics

Bob <brodgers@...>

I have just uploaded the game pictures from friday to the Yahoo site.

Wild West Cavalry

david.rodgers83 <david.rodgers@...>

In light of our poll results, I am offering up my units if anyone
would like them. $4 for the dismounted and $7 for the mounted
figures. I have a total of 10 mounted and 30 dismounted troopers.
They are all painted, based, flocked and sealed. Let me know if you
are interested and I will bring them to the next game night.

I also have a mountain gun for the 25mm if you are interested. It is
not assembled or painted.

Re: [Table-Top_Gaming_Society] Wild West Cavalry

You'll get more $$ if you sell them on ebay.
Probably 3-4 times as much.

If you need help in doing that I can list them for you.
Its easy and fun !!

This was just to recoup my cost. Neville sounded interested. If I get no
takers, We can explore other options.

I still want togo over the basing for the Brit's. I have all of the ones I
bought that I need to base.

Nappy basing

Bob <brodgers@...>

OK, since both Dave and Mark keep asking about how teh nappys should be
based, I'll scan the relevant pages of the rules tonight and post them
here on the Yahoo site.

Re: Nappy basing

Bob <brodgers@...>

In the meantime.
Here's the basics for the Brits.

Each stand represents a battalion for virtually every country. Except
the Brits called them regiments because a Brit regiment consisted of
two battalions. One battalion went off to war and the other stayed home
and recruited. Occasionally they would switch roles. So, in the field,
the Brits called their units regiments even though they were really
only half a regiment (ie.. a battalion).

So in the rules, each Brit base is mounted the same as any other
country's battalion. But each Brit base is called a regiment and the
equivalent of a regiment (2-3 bases generally) for other countries is
called a Brigade by the Brits.

The exact measurements of the bases eludes my fevered mind at the
moment.

Clear !?

A new approach ...

Bob <brodgers@...>

Would the group be interested in establishing a rotating schedule of
game masters ?

By this I mean that each person could host games of their choice on pre-
designated game nights rather than depending on one person to always
set everything up.

It should allow for more variety in games being played as people begin
compiling and collecting for periods that they are interested in.

I'm also thinking that having a schedule like this would help motivate
players to complete their projects and gain experience running games.

The guys with larger collections could initially take on the most
responsibility for games and as time goes by the others can begin
taking on more and more responsibility.

Opinions ?

Johnny Reb basing for Infantry:
2-3 figures / base = 1" square base
4-6 figures / base = 1" x 1.5" base
Command = base size as needed

Nappy's

Bob <brodgers@...>

Well, I spent the last two nights re-basing my 15mm Napoleonic armies.
I have the Prussians (about a corps) and Bavarians (artillery only)
based. I started on the French and have 90% of their cavalry based.
There are a few broken bits I want to fix so that's why the cav isn't
done.

And "based" does not mean "flocked" yet.

So I have the French infantry and artillery left.
Then I can start on the Austrians. And there are a LOT of Austrians.

What have you others been up to ?

Bob

More Nappy stuff

Bob <brodgers@...>

I bought what I thought was painted 15mm Napoleonic cavalry at
historicon. Now that I can compare it to my 15mm's I realize the
figures I bought are closer to 10mm.

They are a so-so wargame quality paint job.
I didn't count them but I think there are around 40 of them.
Maybe less.

Available for 50 cents each.
Anybody want them ?

Re: Nappy's

Bob <brodgers@...>

It looks like we're getting close to being able to play some Nappy's.

My ultimate goal is to be able to play Leipzig.
But I'll start out small with Austerlitz and then maybe Borodino for
warm-ups.

Hmmm......... I guess I need some Ruskies.

Re: [Table-Top_Gaming_Society] Re: Nappy's

brodgers@...

I've always wanted to do Borodino ever since I first played "La Battaille de la Moskowa" back in the 70's.

Also, I think you'll have more than a brigade of ACW if you mount fewer than six figures per base. Take a look at the basing recommendations in the rules. Also, I have a couple Johnny Reb scenario books for actual battles. Units rarely have more than 400 men per regiment in the field.
