He claims he's NOT a lunatic.
Then he asks to be committed.
Hmmm..............

I say YES, 28mm Western.
I would also like to recommend that we begin with wild west shootout
skirmish style games and work our way into larger units of cavalry and
Apaches and/or Plains Indians. That way folks can get started with
relatively few figures but know they need to keep looking at the
bigger picture.

Now I need to know who wants me to order stuff and who's doing it on
their own.
So anyone who hasn't already told me should bring their list friday night.

Wild West Figures

brodgers@...

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

But..... I don't want to order too much stuff and get stuck with the
extra costs if some guys decide not to participate or they want
alternate figures.
So, I really only want to order what people specifically say they want.

For instance, I could order 180 Apaches and 180 Cavalry.
With 6 guys taking equal slices, that equals 30 apaches and 30 cavalry each.
But, if one guy then says he wants only the cavalry figures, I get
stuck with the extra 30 apaches. And the associated cost.

Not the end of the world if it happens once or twice. But you can see
the potential annoyance it could cause.

So, lets compile the order(s) friday night. With everyone there.
That way we can also make sure we're going to end up with a playable mix.

Hopefully we'll end up with a good mix once everyone weighs in.
Yes, the figures are unpainted unless you want some of the pre-painted
box sets.
But, the box sets are only town shoot-out types and not cavalry vs indians.

Did anyone check out the EBAY links from my other message ?
There was one auction with rules and 20 already-painted wild west figures.
The picture was blurry but the figures looked serviceable.

Gaming Figures

Bob,

I have not been able to access these sites since I am using the
computer at work.

Are you taking time off work since Adam is here? I am off all day on
Friday since I need to go in that night. I could come by early and get
the guys set up.

Mark,

Any luck finding your troop rosters?

Yes, I'll be home most of the day on friday.
I might have to be out for about an hour. Not sure yet.
So you should be able to set up. Adam will be on your side so he can assist.
He says he has some ideas about getting accross the bridge.
"Foolishness!", I say.

Also, don't forget to bring your printouts of the various web site pictures.

And,...... Everyone take a look through your paperwork to see if you
inadvertently scooped up one or more of my three-fold chart sheets. I
started with 9 or 10 and I'm down to 4 now. Dave found one mixed in
with his map and troop rosters so I'm hoping maybe others have some too.

Bob,

I have not been able to access these sites since I am using the
computer at work.

Are you taking time off work since Adam is here? I am off all day on
Friday since I need to go in that night. I could come by early and get
the guys set up.

Mark,

Any luck finding your troop rosters?

Wild West figures... NOT!

Bob <brodgers@...>

So, last night we all agreed that we would start this project off by
everyone going out and picking up their own 1/72 or 20mm cowboy, etc
figures. Plastic figures were thought to be readily available, cheap,
and a good way to start for the painting beginners.

With that in mind I went to the Hobby Town at Gilbert and Baseline,
and the Game Depot at Southern and Mclintock.

Hobby Town has a wagon train set and a few odd boxes of settlers and
stuff. But no gunfighters, cavalry, or indians. They did have some
civil war stuff but its not really useable. (And I already have all I
need.)

Game Depot is a total waste unless you want Warhammer (Fantasy) or
Flames of War (WWII) minis. There are a few other odds & ends but
nothing relevant to our project.

So, unless any of you have knowledge of another shop that has what we
need, We'll have to order on-line. And in that case, I'd prefer not
to buy plastic figures (My personal prejudice), and go back to
getting 25/28mm metal figures.

Thoughts ??

Bob
