That is a shame.  He really did a lot to start the hobby growing in the 60's and 70's.  RIP.

I just heard that Donald Featherstone has died.
He was in his 90's.
He was the inspiration for me getting into miniature wargaming.

For those of you who may not know, Don wrote a lot of books about miniature wargaming as well as a few rule sets and Ospreys.

I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times at Historicon and he was always a pleasant guy with a quick wit. I even got him to sign a few of his books for me.

We've been "upgraded".....

TinDictator@...

Yahoo Groups hs aparently upgraded all the groups again.

For OUR convenience.

Anyway, the group page's formatting has been completely changed and the calendar doesn't seem to work right again...still.

Hopefully they'll get things straightened out fairly soon.

In the meantime....

Next game is September 7th at noon in Bob's War Room.

RinCon Registration

The Tin Dictator <TinDictator@...>

Just 11 days left of early bird reg to RinCon '13!
Missing it would be sad.
The money you save could allow you to buy me lunch.

Nice pics

John C

I particularly liked the recognition for the (in)famous Mountain Gun. It died eventually but not without many rings on its barrel!!

Suggest maybe some alternative to that annoying white string as deployment marker next time..........

Thanks for putting on the game guys. Always happy to blow the imperialist-colonialist dogs away!!

JC

RinCon

The Tin Dictator <TinDictator@...>

OK, you guys that said you would run games at RinCon should go to the RinCon web site and register your games now.

The convention is only six and a half weeks away.

If you don't know what to run, send me a note and I'll make some suggestions.

Bob

Next Saturday's game

The Tin Dictator <TinDictator@...>

I was going to run a Nappy game on the 24th but Larry has asked to run a 25mm Colonial game instaed.

So.......

Game:  Lives of a Bengal Lancer

Rules:  Principles of War - Modified by Larry

25mm Action on the Northwest Frontier

A combined British and Indian punitive expedition to quell Surat Khan's delusions of glory.

Of course, Surat Khan is a wiley old mountain fighter and has other ideas about the fate of the expedition.

WWII stuff on sale.....SOON

The Tin Dictator <TinDictator@...>

Skytrex Miniatures is going out of business.
They carry 15mm and Micro Armor WWII stuff.
There will soon be a liquidation sale.
So, if you're in the market for some of their stuff, pay attention!

My game table has been christened and had its first games.
I just posted a few WWII pics from David's Bolt Action games from last week.
I also just posted a bunch of pictures from yesterday's Civil War game.

Next game is in two weeks.
Probably a Napoleonics game.
