I'll base them and drop them by next Saturday - do we need any guns based with crews? I would be more than willing to base them  that way - but will do the 1" bases if we only need run away crews.

Just let me know :)

I think Michael's carries some misc. rounds that would work as well. Should be reasonably priced.

Alyx,

I have found that nickels work great for this. Or you can buy round bases for .06 each.

2 or 3 figures per stand.

Bob,

I have the artillery crews all painted up (28 figures with 6 guns and 1 howitzer). they do need to be based, you said 1" round bases, do you happen to have any already or what should I make them out of? I can get them all based up and to you by the 25th, though I would not be able to stick around and play (wife's birthday).

If you would prefer, we can meet up somewhere and I can drop the figs to you if you would prefer to base - let me know what works best.

Alyx,

Basing for runaway crews is on a 1" round base.
You can get wooden ones at Michaels, or just use nickels.
Guns don't need to be mounted on a base.

If you want to base up a battery with gun & crew they go on a 40mm square base.
You can drop them by the house any time (Wife works from home).
If you'd rather wait until I'm home then Friday - Sunday.

If you want ME to base them, then drop them off by Friday.

Saturday's playtest game went pretty well.
Lots of good input.
Next and final playtest game will be on the 25th.
I hope to have everyone's figures tagged and on hand by then.
The BIG GAME is the following weekend, Sept 1st - 3rd.
I'd like to finish up the terrain boards next weekend.
I'm thinking we could do that next Sunday ??
As far as I can tell we just need to finish making trees and create the cloths to cover the board seams.
Shouldn't take very long.
Any helpers ?

Informational - HMGS PSW Miniwars Con & USS Iowa visit October 2012

JC

Hi,

There is a HMGS convention held in the LA area twice a year called Miniwars, which is of course largely (but not entirely) historical miniatures. The next event will be at a Guard Armory on the east side of LA in the city of Azusa on Oct. 20th. In addition to the convention, a special tour has been arranged of the battleship USS Iowa, which was recently moved to Long Beach.

Here is an email from Harmon Ward, the V-Pres of HMGS PSW:
_____________________________________________________________________

"USS Iowa visit with the HMGS-PSW Fri Aug 10, 2012 1:38 pm (PDT) . Posted by: "hjw@pacbell.net" hjw@pacbell.net

As part of our Mini-Wars October Surprize HMGS convention we are planning a trip to the USS Iowa. This will be on Friday, October 19th before the convention and a number of our out of state members are planning on attending. We ae still working out the timing but this will be a great way to make a one day event into a two day extravaganza. We are planning on meeting the out of state members at the Iowa, touring the ship. That should take about 15 minutes. I have seen lots of tabletop versions of the ship and it doesn't look that big. Anyway, after that we will sit down for dinner down by the docks and wait for traffic to die down a bit. Then it will be out to Azusa and getting a good nights rest before Mini-Wars. We are trying to schedule a tabletop battleship wargame for that Friday onboard but we are not sure yet if that will be possible.

http://www.hmgspsw.org/

The Iowa currently only has one tour available. They plan on eventually opening up four tours, so we will be returning from time to time to see what else there is to see.

The Azusa location is a large hall and AFAIK they are looking for games. Unfortunately I have to attend a work related conference that weekend.

Mark,

Here is my "official" IV Corps OOB.

You   SEEM to be correct.

But far be it from me to admit it !!

The game unit tag has the 3 cav units brigaded together so that the one "Guard Cavalry" unit has 6 squadrons instead of having three units with 2 squadrons each.

The highlighted units are the ones I'm hoping someone (you) can cover.

I have the rest done.

you were right..i missed 2 itl batteries in thecorps art. reserve.  i still dispute the honor guards not being there..so be it.

But.. regarding the 4 itl chasseur reg... the corps cav. div had 2 brig.  the 12th consisted of the 9th 19th chass.  which were froggie.  substantiated more by the fact that the itls only had 4 chass. regs.  the 13th brig. had the 2nd and 3rd chass. which were itl/

do not worry, the figures have been ordered and should be painted in time......hopefully

after your stinging rebuke of my oob for IV corps italians, i took to my bed for 2 days to recover...hen i reviewed my oob.

you were right..i missed 2 itl batteries in thecorps art. reserve.  i still dispute the honor guards not being there..so be it.
But.. regarding the 4 itl chasseur reg... the corps cav. div had 2 brig.  the 12th consisted of the 9th 19th chass.  which were froggie.  substantiated more by the fact that the itls only had 4 chass. regs.  the 13th brig. had the 2nd and 3rd chass. which were itl/

do not worry, the figures have been ordered and should be painted in time......hopefully

mark.....stickler pain in the ass

Cleaning out some misc figures

The Tin Dictator <TinDictator@...>

I came across some miscellaneous 15mm Napoleonic figures in my dead-lead pile that I will never paint.
I think I've had them since the mid 80's.
Some Swedes, Brits, and a few other minor nation's figures. A mix of manufacturers.
30-40 figures approximately.

I'll have them out on Saturday for whoever wants some or all of them.
Free to a good home.

Attached are the unit tags.
Some appear to be different than what I said earlier.
It looks like the actual tags DO have the honor guard.
Also, they have given the Queens Dragoons more squadrons.

So....... why did you take a bunch of Italians to bed for 2 days?
Never mind.  TMI.
I must now purge the mental image.
