The Tin Dictator <TinDictator@...>
 

I'd like to finish up on the terrain table this coming weekend.
I'm hoping that some of you will be able to come by on Saturday.
 
What's left to do??
- finish putting the resin in the rivers
- finish the forests
- paint the table edges
- create some terrain cloths to cover the cracks between boards
- congratulate each other
- drink beer
- eat pizza
 
I show Me, David, Larry, John, Mark, and Rolland as providing troops.
But we really need to do a physical inventory to asses where we stand.
 
All troops seem to be covered except the Italians, Croats, and Wurttembergers right now.
It would be nice if the guys who will be providing figures could begin bringing them over.
We can sort them and put the tags on them.
There are bound to be some missing units that we thought we had covered.
Its better to find that out early rather than on the day of the battle.
 
ALSO:  It has been asked whether or not we might move the game to the following weekend of Sept 8th - 9th because some of the Northern guys are intending to go to a convention in California on Labor Day weekend.  I have not been given any indications that those guys will definately be interested in playing Borodino but I'm told there is some interest. 
 
The battle was fought on September 7th, 1812 so the change would move the game closer to the anniversary date. But, switching weekends will reduce the game to two days rather than three since it won't be on a holiday weekend. More players will definately be better since the battle is so big. But I also know that some of us have specifically made plans to have the Labor Day weekend available for this.

Rick and I are setting up gaming in an empty storefront for the upcoming NerdvanaCon, which is part of Second Fridays in downtown Mesa.  The folks at Queens Pizza have graciously given us an empty storefront (125 W. Main Street) next door to them to run gaming (a portion of it will be used for Retro Video Gaming).  I know it is short notice (we received the info Wed night), and I have no idea what the turnout will be like, but we thought you might want to come out and promote the club and run some games.  

 

The event is Friday night August 10th from 6pm to 10pm and Saturday (times still TBD, but likely 11am - 6 or 7pm).  Hope all is going well,

 

Like I mentioned earlier, we have no idea if the turnout will be good or bad, as this is the first time they've tried to do this at one of these events.

There will be two games in August.
The 11th and 25th.
Both will be Nappy games to re-familiarize everyone with the quick play rules.

I think Mark said he could handle the Saxons and Westies but he "might" be able to supply SOME italians.

And Rolland says he's still working on Italians too.

That really only leaves the Wurttembergers unnacounted for.

I doubt there is enough time to order unpainted figures and have them delivered, painted and ready for Labor Day.

Its only 5 weeks away. If you can do that you’re a maniac!

Rolland says he’s working on the Italians.

But time has not been on his side and he’s woefully behind.

the healing is progressing nicely...or so they tell me...  cant make this weeks game, but anticipate being cleared for the following.

as for the italians..  i have 3xbatt.  and 3x gd.btns.. i can probably do more after i research the uits present at borodino and order the figs.

 

note. my prissian corps only lacks the reerve cav.  and the lutzow freicorps is complete

Let me see how I do answering these:

1) Commands will depend on how many people we get. I am thinking we will have 3 or 4 per side so you may end up with an entire Corps. or possibly a Division
2)No requests as far as I know. This will be a multi-day event so you could be a Frenchy one day and a Ruski the next.
3) There is plenty of room for players. No worries about someone else not being able to play. We will have around 6,000 figures (conservative)

On a related note:

I noticed that Rolland has put his French Army and his Austrian Army for sale on TMP. This pprobably means WE NEED ITALIANS! I doubt Mark has enough time to paint a batch of Italians to cover them.  Anyone have anything we can use? I have British and Portuguese and a few Dutch. Not much help but in a pinch......

Just full of questions today!

So in prep for Borodino, What level are we playing at? will each player command a Division, a Corps? Also is there a preliminary head count  and any requested affiliations? I just want to make sure that by me signing up that I am not displacing anyone else :)

I do have a pre-disposition toward the French forces - however I have no qualms in killing them...I play Peninsular Brits and Portuguese so I have no qualms pouring hot lead on the frogs!

If I am the french I would love to command De'Izon's Brigade (I have a personal bone to pick with Tolstoy), or anyone under Davout. 

As the Russians I would like to play as Tuchkov so I can shoot the Poles. in true Russian fashion!

I am very excited about it all.

I would hope that players would stay on the same side over the weekend rather than switching.

Just full of questions today!

So in prep for Borodino, What level are we playing at? will each player command a Division, a Corps? Also is there a preliminary head count  and any requested affiliations? I just want to make sure that by me signing up that I am not displacing anyone else :)

I do have a pre-disposition toward the French forces - however I have no qualms in killing them...I play Peninsular Brits and Portuguese so I have no qualms pouring hot lead on the frogs!

If I am the french I would love to command De'Izon's Brigade (I have a personal bone to pick with Tolstoy), or anyone under Davout. 

As the Russians I would like to play as Tuchkov so I can shoot the Poles. in true Russian fashion!

I am very excited about it all.

But, I upgraded some of the troops’ morale, changed the Parliamentarian cavalry to Trotters instead of Gallopers, and altered the reinforcement entry times.

I have ordered more Hussars. We will still need 1 unit of 8 bases but that is all for Cav. I will bring all of my misc. troops to Saturdays game so we can determine what is useable. Maybe lighten the load for the rest to rebase....

I am basing up the Cuirassier and the HA now. We got the order back from
PhilGreg so we are in good shape for the Russians. It sounded like Alyx
might have some Russians available to fill any needs as well.

Unfortunately I am working on Saturday, so cannot attend.

I think it would be good if Rolland's situation could be definitely
established one way or another. Apart from the Italians as I recall he is
also bringing the Westphalians, correct?

We don't want to be scrambling if he can't make it and on the other hand
if he is going to be there we don't want to duplicate troops he is going
to bring.
