Greetings to all, I would have a question having never owned a SA 7L13 plug-in I was wondering what advantages / differences there are in using a 7613 maiframe (storage oscilloscope) compared to a 7603 mainframe.
When using the narrowest resolution bandwidths (<1kHz) of the 7L13 it is necessary to sweep the spectrum analyzer very slowly (>1s/div) to obtain accurate results due to the slow response of the filters and detectors. With a storage scope like the 7613 you can save and view the whole width of the spectrum trace rather than just the slowly moving dot that you would see on the screen of a non-storage scope.
Later spectrum analyzers incorporate digital storage of the trace so the sweep speed of the display can be independent of the slow speed of the spectrum analysis circuitry.
