TDS5054B Restore CD Images (Strick are you around?)
I suggest using an IDE to SSD adapter as CF adapters can play "strangely" as you have found. D.

7623A HV dead - how to troubleshoot it?
I think that a good hf transformer should ring for quite a bit longer than that (maybe 50 or more), but with shorted turns it would likely drop below 10 or so. However, I've never ring tested on of th

If you have shorted turns that won't show up with an ohm-meter, only a ring test will tell you that. David

7b87 substitution
I suggest you DL the service manuals for both - the 7B87 may look similar externally, but internally there's lots of extra stuff to handle pre-trigger. I'm not saying it's impossible as a modern PIC o

Recapping Tektronix 7904, 7844 etc. power supply
Any bead tantalums at the top of the Cap/Rectifier board (the big ones) should be replaced. Axial tantalums are almost certainly OK (I can't remember if the 7844 supply used those or aluminium types).

Probe attenuation detection
You have a probe that amplifies by a factor of ten? I seriously doubt that there's a probe detection resistor value for that! D.

Tds794 2ghz scope probes cost more than these used scope?
Problem with most MMICs is that they need input and output capacitors and therefore are actually incapable of DC-anything ... Typical circuits start at around 100kHz or higher as the low frequency lim

It's highly likely that the centre conductor is resistance wire (nichrome or similar). This is to stop/reduce reflections. David

576 arrived with bad CRT... total dead end?
IMHO you should still open an eBay case for this within 30 days of receipt of the item. You may wish to wait until close to the end of the 30 day period if you want the buyer to have a chance to sort
