2430a battery and cal constants
Chris, If memory serves, you can use one of the 1/2AA size Tadiran lithium batteries. Also, it will need a complete calibration, both Internal and External. This is actually not difficult to do, but y

Chris, the levels must be quite accurate and stable, or the cal will fail. Can you borrow a Tek PG506 and mainframe?

OT Eprom Problem
OK, the Lecroy 9400 series use a special Sanyo RTC battery, that, if it fails, the uP will not run. I know this because I have encountered it before. You should be able to get the p/n off the old cell

OT Eprom Problem
Jerry, how do you know you have a bad Eprom? The RTC clock issue as I recall, looks just as you describe. The RTC failure puts the uP in a loop. This is a known problem on the 9400 series.

Jerry, It is possible that the 9400 is different from the 9400 series models I am familiar with. Your unit my not suffer from the RTC problem. It sounds like yours uses Nicad's?

Tek 576: HV Hartley oscillator wont start
The early 576 had a defective Hv transformer, that was potted in a brown material. The later transformers were black silicone. If yours is brown, that is your problem. The only fix is a replacement tr

Problem calibration TEK 495P
The first thing I would check is the input attenuator. If you input, say, 0dbm from your generator, what is the on screen amplitude display? Is it close to the top of the screen with the input atten k

Lamps for a Tek 576
Candela, candelacorpcorp.com acquired Eldema, I believe. That is where I order mine. The lamps are fairly expensive, and made to order. It is also possible to disassemble and re-lamp the old ones. It

Removing the old Dallas chips is not difficult, IF you have a good quality solder removal system. If you don't, I would not attempt it. Are they dead? If not, what is the date code? They may have been

576 curve trace scope problem
Pull the cover off the HV section. If the transformer has brown potting, that is almost certainly the culprit. Common on the older s/n's. Chuck Harris and I discussed rebuilding these, and I provided

All the good transformers are black silicone potting. The s/n is difficult, because some were replaced years ago. What color is your transformer?

576 curve trace scope problem
I have used the two component silicones as far back as the mid-'70's.. The mix is by weight (or was then), and small volume was not a problem. I think the silicone is preferable to prevent corona. Wer

I would refurb the B3xxxx s/n, and use the other for parts. No debate in my opinion. As David said, check the power supplies for ripple and regulation. Don't forget to check the bypass cap on the HV m

You really don't need to program them if you have a calibration generator. I often have 2440's come in with dead chips, and cal constants gone. A full cal and all is well.

I don't think the windings are actually penetrated much by the silicone. I have other (later) Tek HV transformers encapsulated in silicone. I will open one and see. I can't spare a good 576 trans to t
