scope probe accy's
I could have sworn that the last time I visited the Tektronix site, they were still offering parts for many of their older probe lines like the 6105 series. Thanks for the tip. I will bookmark them.

Cleaning products + electrons
Isn't benzene a key component in gasoline? It was one of the first carcinogens mentioned on California's Prop 65 list. It's why gloves are supposed to be available when pumping gas. I understood it is

Back in the old days, when we were much more devious, we used to soak rags in MEK and throw them under the bosses door - usually in an hour or so he would go home with a headache. In the Navy we used

Tek soldering technique
I prefer the old rosin flux cored solder myself and I've been told it's pretty inert when dry so it can just be left (although it ain't pretty). That organic stuff is pretty caustic. Definitely worth

Cost to build a classic tube scope?
For instance a Hammond B3 organ which costs $3000.00 in 1964 would cost $16,962.96 today (2002 is the limit of the calculations)

Air filter tackifier
Actually I just tried it- made the filter look like brand new. I have cleaned it the hot water and soap method for the previous 15 years. You're right about the aluminum pitting - I never machine wash

Range hood filters are very similar and I clean mine in the dishwasher and it does a spectacular job. Although with all the grease in a range hood filter you wouldn't need to "tackify" it. Also I am c

Goverment Auction in Norfolk, Va.(Lot's of Tektronix Scopes)
I have actually bought a fair amount of gear from gov. liquidators. Most people (like myself) wait until the last minute to bid (so the $35.00 minimum bid price will change -sometimes dramatically). D

Slightly off the topic
"I was wondering if anyone in the group did get unsolicited offers for dirt cheap software" Isn't the general rule that if it seems like too good of a deal it probably isn't?! Sounds like a scam to me

GR, not Tek!
Thanks Craig, Very interesting site. It made me appreciate my V5 Variac (in almost daily use for over 30 years) and decade resistor box even more. "Subject: [TekScopes] GR, not Tek!"
