Vacuum Tube adapter for Curve Tracer

Rick

Hello All,

I just picked up a 5CT1N curve tracer plugin for my 5440 scope. My end goal is to buy/build an adapter to to support tracing tubes. I've remember seeing tube adapters for the the 576 curve tracer a long time ago. I'd like to supply the high DCV externally to operate the tubes. Does anyone know of any devices or circuits that do this?

Thanks, Rick

Tek items FS, thanks for the BW

albert prazolam <devnull8it@...>

Hello everyone, thank you for letting me post these.  I have a moderately large number of Tek items that I hope can get some use by someone who has more time and space than I do. I will give a brief rundown here, if you are interested in more details PLEASE REPLY OFF-LIST and I will send lists and photos.  The big items are a Scope-Mobile model 3 and a T922 scope. I am asking $25 each but probably for local pickup as these will be hard to ship, or I could meet you somewhere in NJ.  Also a USPS large flat rate box full of probes, probe bodies w/o cables, probe tips, cases, connectors, test leads, attenuators, adaptors, preamps, etc. Asking $100 for this plus the flat rate shipping cost. I can send a detailed list if interested. Thanks for the BW and best wishes to all,
Mike

Re: 465M trace issue

Success!
Replacing two Ecaps (C582 and C584) with 200V units did the trick. 95V measures 94.8, well within spec. Horizontal trace now displays correctly fully from left to right. Yeah. That's two for three so far, with both my goto scopes (R7603 and 465M) now working.
Thanks all again,
Bob

I lived in the Tustin area for many years and made the trip to San
Diego regularly. It is about a 90 minute drive and the 55 freeway
exits directly into Tustin.

April 15th Stuff Day Tek stuff

Just a quick summary, here are some of the Tek plug ins and related items for this year's stuff day event here at Sphere:

Search through our big Tek KNOB cabinet, hundreds of Tek knobs of all kinds, sorted by type. Also HP knobs and rack kits, feet and tilt bails.

plug-ins as cheap as $10 each.
2/3 series plug ins (including 4 trace and sampling) for 561/564 frames
5K series plug ins
7K series plug ins
11K series plug ins (found another pile of them hiding)
TM500 Tool box plug ins (mint, new)
TM500 frames
561/564 frames
485 scope
453 scope
465M vert/horiz. modules, fully tested- CHEAP!
numerous small Tek 300 series portables.
plus some very sexy Philips/Fluke Combiscopes (analog and digital modes)

Printed Manuals, we need to clear out hundreds of Tek, HP, Fluke, Boonton and other factory manuals we don't use any more, get them by the pound! We REALLY need that space back.

plus lots of HP 8660 items, hp 100-275Mhz scopes, SA add on units, ARGO system plug ins, a HUGE quantity of power supplies of all kinds, including many 12V high current units, and many cal'd fluke, keithley and HP DMMs.

plus, several tons of parts, tubes, and other interesting parts by the foot, snorkel in the huge vat of semiconductors, and much more. even some nice metal working and air tools, drills and milling bits. the scary thing is that even with all this stuff going, it hardly makes a dent here.

hope to see you here in april,
all the best,
walter (walter2 -at- sphere.bc.ca)

Pity there isn't a "Channel Tunnel" underneath the North Atlantic from the UK :); would be worth the drive!!

Then of course there's the east-to-west coast drive, but, hey, that was already done 150 (?) years ago, so can't be all that difficult???

Sadly, though I'd love to pick up a 466 to keep my other 466 company, I
don't think I can swing that.

Re: Tek 2223 low intensity

Tektronix 2223? Do you mean 2232?

If it is a 2232, are all of the intensities (A, B, store/readout) low?

Is the horizontal and vertical deflection accurate?

Does the CRT focus well?

If the horizontal and vertical deflection is low by the same amount,
then the PDA (post deflection acceleration) voltage is probably low or
missing indicating a bad high voltage multiplier. Otherwise the grid
bias adjustment should be checked.

Artek Manuals <manuals@...>

Roland are you sure that it is a 2223 and not a 2232? ( I dont think Tek
ever made a 2223). If the 2223 is a typo please change to subject line
so that other readers know what they are looking for)

For starters a bit more information

1) Check all the LV Power supply voltages this is rule number 1 on all
these old scopes with a problem regardless of the model number

2) Have you had this scope along time or is this a new acquisition?

3) If you had it for a while did the problem happen suddenly or did it
come on slowly over months or years?

I've never seen a real service manual, or anything with much more than a
block diagram.
Ebay often has boards from parted out units, and the occasional absurdly
cheap unit without probes.

I'm guessing you're still looking for damage from the electrolyte, which
isn't fun. Board replacement might be worthwhile, if you just want it
working again, rather than the challenge of debugging it.
(One of mine has just failed with a whining PSU noise followed by a fishy
smell. I'm not looking forward to opening that...)

Good luck!

Steve

Re: Tek items for sale, OK to post?

Reed Dickinson

Hi Gary:

Here is the note I sent to the forum.

Reed

Greetings fellow Tekies:

I read, with interest, the current string regarding selling Tek products
on this forum. I have debated doing this for months and I have now
decided it is time to act. I am 82, retired, and I realize that I no
longer have the time, energy nor desire to refurbish all these scopes
so, I am offering them for sale.

I have 196 scopes in my garage. The inventory is as follows:

465 28
465B 42
466 8
468 37
475 55
475A 20
7854 6

Total 196

Most of these scopes came from the now defunct Hughes Aircraft plant
here in Southern California.
Picking up these scopes at my home is the way to get these scopes. I
also have many other Tek products,
write me and state your needs and I will reply.

My minimum price for any of these complete scopes is $50. I am asking
$70 for those with the DM option. For the 468's and 475's (A) I am
asking $75.
A few of these scopes have been used for parts and one parts scope will
be given away free for a purchase of every 5 complete scopes.

I also have 53 of the 485 models. These are my favorite scopes and I
might be persuaded to part with some of these.

All are in Tustin, Orange County, CA. I am not prepared to ship these
scopes so it is on a first come, first served basis. Offers on 10 or
more would be considered.
If you want to have an outside shipper pick up and pack a scope(s), at
buyers expense, that can be arranged.

For a fee I could test each scope up to a trace only level depending on
the state of the scope.
The 7854's are a difficult scope to work on but it appears that each one
is complete. I would negotiate a fair price on each 7854. I have two
keyboards for these scopes which I would sell separately.

I, and my wife, would love it is someone would arrive in a big truck and
haul everything away.

Write me at reed714@... and we can discuss your desires.

Hi David:

A suggestion, rent a truck, drive 83 miles up 5, do your business here
then drive to my home and load up your truck!

Hi Greg:

I will keep the light on for the people with an empty truck. Why don't
you take a vacation from all that snow I see you are having and drive
out here, visit Disneyland and haul a load of scopes back east.

All I can say is wow - I thought I was a hoarder... nice stuff though.

accused of having too much stuff we can use that as an argument? I
completely understand the lack of shipping though as that could become
a career in itself. Maybe consider one of those pack and ship places
that you just drop off and the seller pays the packer/shipper for the
services? Of course maybe you'll get lucky and someone will show up
with an empty truck and a basket of cash.

Good luck!

Items for Sale Procedure

To keep bandwidth to a minimum to prevent cluttering our busy forum with
postings that we don't need filling up our archives please keep as much of
the buying and selling activity as possible off-list.

Potential buyers should have a list with basic information in it such as
where the items are located, the condition they are in, the asking price,
photos, etc so that they can email it to interested forum members directly.
Most members email addresses appear a the bottom of their posts. But if
those email addresses are missing or incorrect sellers should include a
current way to reach them. Any requests for more information are also best
handled off-list.

Thanks, in advance for your understanding,

Dennis Tillman W7PF
