535A CRT in a 575 - clever trick?
So thinking out loud here...It has been pretty well-documented here on the forum in various threads that the 535A scope CRT can be used in a 575 Curve Tracer with a little tweaking. (Pin 8 300vdc

Re: Washing an old scope - impact on tube markings?
My 2 cents worth:
As for cleaners, I've had very good luck with Simple Green - it's very mild, but still effective. I have a box of $1 or $2 paintbrushes that I cut the last inch or so of the

Re: Tek 576 CT ... Replacement of HV transformer with a modern DC/DC HV converter module ?
Looking at it, it has already a tripler, and only
makes 2000V.
That puts it 1800V low, and it sure doesn't look like
it is regulated.
How are you going to make up the difference?

Re: Harmonica connectors repair
I agree. I've been in components related businesses since the late 80's, and this is the first time I've ever heard these referred to as "Dupont" connectors. Must be a non-silicon valley

As I seem to recall, Stan used an adapted old chest freezer with a heater inside and fans to circulate
air from outside.

Re: Washing an old scope - impact on tube markings?
I think it's been mentioned, but be very cautious when cleaning the tube envelopes. The markings can sometimes be very easily disolved with water or other solutions. Best to use a dry cloth or brush

I don't wash scopes and test equipment anymore.
The rules are too varied.

Chuck,
I learn something from your comments almost every day. I don't have any TEK Vacuum tube instruments, may we assume that the same general rules apply to solid state instruments? I knew to

Hi Jamie,
A few things:
Keep the water off of the power transformer, and the
HV section. You can put a bag around them, and simply
don't aim the water at them. Use a brush to clean in
those
