tube models) used TD triggering, until the triggering functionality moved to
chips (presumably ECL comparators?) in the 2400

Well, in 1962 they didn't - around 350ps with the best sampler. But by
1968, with the introduction of the S4 and S6 sampling heads it was possible
to get down to less than 25ps.
