Re: 2430A Smoke
Hi Dan,
On the 7A26, these 4 capacitors C1012, C1028, C1022, C1028 were probably changed for improved reliability, since their use as filter capacitors may not influence much the performance

Good idea, Tony. I can upload a picture when the difference between before and after can have a useful graphic representation.
They say that one picture can be worth a thousand words...

Re: Calibrating Just the ∆t Cursors 2465B w/o Doing Full Calibration
There is no specific calibration procedure for cursors. The whole horizontal time base needs calibration
it's not your cursors that are uncalibrated, your horizontal is out of calibration. My 2465A

Re: Calibrating Just the ∆t Cursors 2465B w/o Doing Full Calibration
are the calibration adjustments for the timing cursors done with physical trim-pots/caps or is this a microprocessor-based calibration procedure. I have the full service manual, but can't discern

Depending on what you can build, take a precision oscillator 20 to 50 Mhz or so. You'll want to divide that down by 10,5,2 as needed to get timing pulses. Your highest frequency must be handled by

Re: 2430A Smoke
Thanks for the reminder, as I have two 7A26s, each with some issues to check. Along with other 7000 series and a few 5000 series plug-ins to check. Did find a shorted Ta cap in an S-4 sampling head

Re: 2430A Smoke
I have a newer 7A26 with a 670-2549-21 PCB. I can report that with this revision, Tektronix had decided
to replace all four solid tantalum capacitors with general purpose Nichicon aluminum

Ernesto, if you can upload a picture before and after and explain it with
IT IS OK NOW or this didn't work..... I'm sure you make it to work!

Re: 2430A Smoke
Hi TomC,
I found three 7A26 plugins in my old collection. Two of them look OK. The third one has two tantalum on the amplifier board blown up. C1018 (spread around an ugly black cover all around)

Gary,
Consider this:
* 8,000+ TekScopes members around the world were copied on your message.
* Some of our members have severe bandwidth limitations and this message wasted it.
* How can I tell if

TDS5054 Screen Shots
Does anyone know of a utility to get screen shots from a TDS5054 via GPIB?
OpenChoise does not support it.
Thanks kindly,
Dave

Re: 2430A Smoke
My experience was tantalum failures in 7A26 plugins. When they fail short high current burns inductors consisting of 47 turns wound on 10 ohm carbon comp resistors. Those resistors can produce a heck
