Re: S-100 stuff, electronic stuff, model railroad stuff, books and magazines!
Hi Richard,
Sorry to hear that you're not well. By the way, where in the world are you please? Shipping from Sydney to Melbourne might be cheap but not from Canada.
Thanks, Brian.

Re: 519 -- broken rate generator; stuck at a very high frequency?
Hey Tom,
Thanks for the brainstorming. I do need to turn the scope on it's side so I can get to the bottom panel and look under there. That, however, is a tomorrow problem. :o) I did deoxit the range

Never owned that scope, but as you say, there's very little that can go wrong. Troubleshooting should not take a lot of time unless the components are inaccessible.
R925 is a 1% resistor, so I doubt

Re: Is my Tek 468 beyond repair?
Hi,
Thanks for uploading the Service ROM. Does this go into socket U565 or U575, or somewhere else please?
Regards,
John

I'm not sure what I said applies to your instrument. If the SN was exactly 3 digits (1xx), what I said would apply. This was true for instruments manufactured before 1970. When I was a graduate

Scm the serial number on mine is b010124. That could also explain why the
display unit serial number is different it is b010114

If your serial number is 124, there may be no manual for it. For several years (I don't know how early or how late), Tektronix allowed engineers to keep the development prototype instruments they were

Early 577 service manual needed.
Does any one happen to have the original service manual for a 577 D2? It seems I have one of the very early ones # 124. I went through the calibration document that is available on line but there

A good way to clean these is to soak them in a solution of Professional Brewer's Wash.

Run it through a dishwasher, or soak it in soapy water and scrub it with a soft brush, then let it dry if you're worried about any coating. A brand new one shouldn't be coated with anything that won't

Sorry, 0.5nH/mm, not per inch. Too many different units clashing in my head.

I doubt very much that there are any transmission line effects of note. Remember: The free-space delay is about 1ns per foot (and although it’s not in free space, the answer isn’t going to change

All I can say is there is nothing very transmission line like
about the focus wires coming out of the base of the CRT, and
traveling along in a harness until they get to the HV circuit
board There

Re: Tektronix 2465A noise on readout
Hi Siggy,
Ripple current only affects capacitor life when it becomes
ripple power, and dissipates as heat.
This is a pretty low duty cycle signal, I think.
